It can trully be said that you can get in a rut. I have a certain approach to images. Now that can be good if you like what you are producing. I am a bit conceded in that I like my images for sure. Sorry. But you can also depend on those formulas, almost like a crutch.

This last weekend I had a friend of ours ask if they could borrow my trusty 15-30 Tamron. This is my staple lens for sure. Then we set out looking for fall colors at some trusty waterfall locations, in this case, Silver Falls State Park. Thing is, I did not have my favorite lens. So I was forced to think outside the box. Here I opted for my Canon 50mm f1.4 with an 8 stop ND filter. I tried to stack the image and do a panoramic vertical blend. I love doing pano's vertically.

We did not find any really popping colors sadly. There is some Fall yellow in there but not much.

Oh, this also gave me the chance to try out a second tripod. I got a bit beefier one for shooting in water and wind. Its heavier and bigger, but I like it so far. Its a Leofoto. I know, and odd brand. The stats on this thing a great though, 36mm legs and a new 40mm ball head. More stable in the water for sure.

Let me know what you think.

The set of Covadonga lakes is made up of two small lakes, the Enol and the Ercina, of glacial origin, located in the Asturian part of the Picos de Europa National Park, in the western massif of said mountain range. There is a third lake, the Bricial, which only has water during the thaw, but it also belongs to the whole. In Asturias they are known simply as the lakes.

They are located in the council of Cangas de Onís and are accessed through a 14.5 km road that starts at the Real Sitio de Covadonga to reach Lake Enol first, including also a small road that would take them to Lake Ercina. Its frequent use since 1983 as the end of the stage in the Cycling Tour of Spain has made the place internationally popular.

The massive influx of tourists, especially cycling fans, has forced to limit the development of cycling events in the surroundings of Los Lagos. However, the area has a tourist infrastructure.

The excessive influx of visitors, especially in high season, has also meant that access by car to the Lakes is restricted, and can only be accessed using public transport enabled for this. Private vehicles can only circulate first thing in the morning (before 8:30 a.m.) and late in the afternoon (after 20:00 p.m.). In low season, there are no access restrictions with a private vehicle.

In the vicinity of Lake Ercina, in Buferrera, iron, manganese and mercury mines were exploited until 1979. People who visit this place have at their disposal a "Buferrera parking" car park, a visitor center, a shelter and two restaurant bars for their enjoyment.

Wakayama Castle (和歌山城 Wakayama-jō) in Wakayama, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, sits at the mouth of the Kii River. Originally Ōta castle, home of the Saiga Ikki, it was captured by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1585, during the Siege of Negoro-ji; many monks from Negoro-ji sought refuge in Ōta, which was soon destroyed by flood. Hideyoshi ordered the building of dams on three sides of the castle, focusing the rainwaters and diverting the river to ruin the castle. As hunger set in, the samurai, monks, and peasants inside Ōta surrendered, and fifty warrior monks led a final suicidal charge against Hideyoshi's army.

Ōta was rebuilt as a temple for the Shushin branch of Japanese Buddhism, to break from its history as a home to warrior monks. Wakayama Castle was then built on the same site, under the supervision of Toyotomi Hidenaga, Hideyoshi's brother, with Tōdō Takatora's participation. Asano Yoshinaga arrived in 1600 to serve as feudal lord, under Tokugawa Ieyasu.

In 1615 the castle was attacked by forces loyal to Toyotomi Hideyori, who were trying to end the siege of Osaka. In the summer of 1615, parts of the Osaka garrison left the city, ambushing various elements of the Tokugawa forces. Ono Harunaga, Hanawa Naoyuki and Okabe Noritsuna led part of the garrison in attacking Wakayama Castle, held by Asano Nagaakira at the time. They had with them 3000 men, but the castle had 5000 in its garrison. Asano's men left the castle to meet the Western (Toyotomi) forces in what came to be known as the 'battle of Kashii.' Hanawa and Okabe were killed, and Ono was forced to flee back to Osaka.

The castle's current appearance matches renovations made by Tokugawa Yorinobu, tenth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, in the early 17th century.

At the end of the Edo period, in 1867, the feudal structure fell apart, and Wakayama Castle was opened to the public for the first time.

The castle was destroyed by Allied bombing during World War II, but was rebuilt in 1958 out of concrete and is open to the public as a symbol of the city and historical site.

The Saturday Self-Challenge: Forced Perspective

I planted this sugar maple about 18 years ago. Every year, she puts on a tremendous show in the fall. Her leaves range from orange to yellow depending upon the seasonal temperature.

What has become an annual event that just keeps on keeping on, is the Auto fest Spring car Nats held in Shepparton. Here is a link to the event organisers page, autofest.com.au/.

The event has been going for over 30 years, and for many there is no better way to spend the weekend than with like-minded people, as the entrants burn rubber with an excess of horsepower, that is thankfully quite obscene : )

There was and is everything from the go to woe, handling events, drifting, and of cause burn outs! Burnouts bouncing of the rev limiting, literally hitting the red line burnouts. How much rubber do they burn, enough so I can smell it from my house nearly a mile away : ) PS the smoke signals might be cultural appropriation, so some one should bring along a Pontiac and make it officially ok : P

Jack Danniels www.jackdaniels.com/en-au has a bar, so Tennessee is represented, although in the main part, not much American iron turns up at the event in comparison to the Australian contingent and Japanese cars.

V8s are the flavor, although you might be surprised like I was this year to see a Honda S2000 turn up, a pleasant inclusion, with one of the all-time great 4 bangers in it.

Black snot is a thing, that is if you can handle the close quarters action! You might like to take some year plugs, even then for about mile you will still be able to hear the cars at it.

As a car enthusiast I enjoy the day, friendly people getting their thing on, and having a great time.

PS. Make sure you drink lots of water, and keep hydrated!

Just playing around with some forced perspective today, and here is my new logo watermark thanks to my brother-in-law!

Since ancient years when it was still called Black Snake, one of the oldest interracial clubs in Second Life, now known as The Snake, will close on 1 August (2016). We were open for more than 6 years.

I feel sad because many nice things have happened in this place, I met many nice people and have made many many naughty and fun things.

I thank everyone who ever helped keep the place open, they are many and I will not remember all. All the dancers, Managers, Securities, Landlords, Customers and Friends.

But unfortunately due to lack of sponsorship and unfair competition for customers and good staff, we are forced to close our doors.

The club was never a place to earn Lindens, it was a place to Roleplay and to have fun, never forcing anyone to work harder than to have fun, and so is the end of a beautiful dream.

Thank you all and see you around.

With love

Kemi

Turnips were used as vessels for ghoulish faces and candles long before Irish settlers adopted the pumpkin we are familiar with today. The folklore of these immigrants told of a man known as Stingy Jack; one of the few to have ever cheated the grave, and the Devil himself. When his time came to naturally die, Jack could not find his way into heaven, being a dishonest and lazy soul. Likewise, the Devil refused his admittance to the underworld, having been outsmarted and humiliated by Jack previously. Barred from a proper afterlife, Jack was forced to wander the earth forever as an undead husk. The Devil snidely offered Jack a single ember to light his way, as he sought his resting place in vain. Having no use for his favorite food any longer, he placed the ember inside of a hollowed turnip, and eventually became known as Jack-o'-the-Lantern.

Happy Halloween.

Hawker Hurricane Mk.I P2902 was hit by enemy fire on 31 May 1940 while providing aerial protection during the evacuation of British troups from the beaches in Dunkerque.

The injured pilot made a forced landing on one of the beaches, and the aircraft was left there for 48 years before being found and recovered. Today it is in flying condition, as you can see.

A beach find. Incredible.

Everyone, this is a dark episode. Please. Read.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kaine lay on the floor, not sure what to think. Was there a heaven? A hell? He didn't really care. He had failed. All this time, all he had to do was protect Gwen, and Peter Parker. But he couldn't even do that simple task. He was bleeding all over the floor, when he saw something. Like a little spark. Seconds after, he saw... his life. He saw the bad, he saw the good, and the last thing he saw was Gwen. He smiled. He loved her, not because he was supposed to, but because he cared for her. But Gwen wasn't a moment in his life. She was there looking over him.

"Kaine....."

The voice faded.

"Kaine!"

It was getting lower and lower in tone, until he heard,

"Please don't go..... I love you....."

He didn't want to go. He couldn't go. He forced his eyes open to see Gwen in the yellow costume.

"Wha..."

"Oh my god, your alive! Don't speak, we will get you to a hospital and...."

"Gwen... how did you..."

"Well, you're not Peter. But I don't care. These past few years have been wonderful."

"And... spider.... powers?"

"No. I don't have any. I wanted you to... stop."

Stop?

"I wanted you to stop doing this... no it doesn't matter now. SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!"

"Gwen, please.... I cant hold on much longer."

"SOMEONE! PLEASE! HELP!"

Kaine looked at her with his eyes fluttering.

"I... I love you Gwen Stacy...."

And Kaine then saw nothing.

Gwen felt his hand drop off of hers.

"No... no..."

She fell to his chest screaming for him to come back. They weren't done. They still had plans.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two weeks passed. Gwen had locked herself inside her apartment. Today, they were to be wed. She looked down at her wedding gown, beautiful, and untouched. Instead of a wedding today, she was going to visit Kaine.

She stumbled at the doorway, drunk from two weeks of pain, and took out a cigarette. She also, fumbled with this. She took a step outside, and closed the door. She called a taxi and said to go to the closest cemetery. She knew which one it was, but she could not remember with all the alcohol running in her veins.

"Right here Ma'am."

"Thank you."

She got out of the car without paying the cab.

"Hey! The money please?"

She threw the cash and change at him.

"Geez. Rough day I guess."

With that he opened the door and took the money from the ground. He then hurried into the cab and drove away.

Gwen saw Harry there and was excited to meet him. She had just found out he was alive, and needed to be in some what comfort.

"How are you Gwen?"

"Fine. Really. Fine."

He looked at her pocket.

"Cigarettes?"

"Just to pass time."

He frowned at this.

"Look. Come home with me. I'm sure he wouldn't mind."

Harry looked at the grave of Kaine Parker.

Gwen turned to him.

"Ok."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harry remembered what Kaine had told him.

Harry. You can finally do this for me! I can have a family. One I actually care for.

Harry looked at the suit with a tear in his eye. He wiped it away and put the suit in the igniter.

"Thanks, Kaine."

He then closed the door, and pressed the button. Flames danced as the suit of the former Spider-Man turned to ashes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

.... So. That's the end of this issue. I hope to get some feedback, as this is the MOST important issue of the series. It completely changes the volume.

Samdham, for the rest of the crossover, I will be using Harry as Spider-Man.

Other than that... yes. Kaine is dead. Don't try and say, "Oh he'll come back." because, I really don't think it will happen. Anyways, this is one of the more dramatic issues of the series, and I kinda liked it.

This is actually pretty sad for me too. I love Kaine and never thought of killing him off. But, I guess it works for a more dramatic story. ;(

(p.s. I told you someone was going to die in the volume)

This is for the group "Get Pushed" and I was pushed by Alex. His challenge to me was to use "Forced Perspective." I had never heard of this before so I looked it up on Wikipedia.

"Forced perspective is a technique that employs optical illusion to make an object appear farther away, closer, larger or smaller than it actually is. It is used primarily in photography, filmmaking and architecture. It manipulates human visual perception through the use of scaled objects and the correlation between them and the vantage point of the spectator or camera."

This challenge was a little more difficult than I expected because all of the examples I found online and in the forced perspective groups were very gimmicky like someone holding the sun between their fingers.

I used a low POV to make the train and bricks look larger in the lower and left part of the frame.

We can almost hear your puzzled minds trying to grasp this one. “Studebaker and Mercedes? Have the one24thscale guys gone completely off their rockers?”

Proud to say, we are as sane as we ever was. There really is a connection. If you had been to the New York Auto Show in 1954 and fallen in love with the first production 300 SL Coupes, where could you go to buy one?

That’s right, you had to go to your Studebaker-Packard dealer to order a Gull-wing. When the American company’s fortunes began to sour, Mercedes offered their first dealerships to owners of the Studebaker-Packard chain. Many of these dealers happily made the transition.

Imagine, if you had visited your Studebaker-Packard dealer in 1957, You might have seen a Studebaker Golden Hawk sharing the show-room floor with a Mercedes 300SL. I’m guessing you could buy two or three fully equipped Hawks for the $6800.00 sticker price of the Gull-wing.

This is a forced perspective photograph of a 1/24 scale die-cast model car in front of a real background.
