The 1930's Ford V8 was Clyde Barrow's favorite car to steal. So much so that he wrote this letter to Henry Ford.

Handwritten on paper: Tulsa, Okla 10th April Mr Henry Ford Detroit, Mich. Dear Sir: - While I still have got breath in my lungs I will tell you what a dandy car you make. I have drove Fords exclusively when I could get away with one. For sustained speed and freedom from trouble the Ford has got ever other car skinned and even if my business hasen't been strickly legal it don't hurt enything to tell you what a fine car you got in the V8 - Yours truly Clyde Champion Barrow

Cal has been missing for a while, but it is always a safe bet that you will catch him here in Robe on South Australia's Limestone coast, and watching the sunrise. Last time he grabbed my Porsche 964 for a quick trip here. This time it is the 1959 Austin Healy 3000. A fine choice for a perfect morning like this!

Not my new wheels this time. This vehicle belongs to my friend up in our sister retirement village here in Mount Gambier. Just the thing for a quick trip down to the shops!

A forced perspective shot of what I think is a 1/32 scale model 2019 Kenworth T909 prime mover. My friend was given this as a gift, and as he knew of my love for photographing model cars, we decided to try a few shots of this wonderful diecast model truck sitting in his driveway. The backdrop is his street in the village with the corner veranda post of his own home just visible on the left. The model truck is around 12 inches long.

When faced with a bridge like this, and when there was no traffic around, I could not resist the temptation to jump out of the car and grab a photo from the rear of the mighty E-type Jag about to head under it.

Although this looks like a section of a racetrack, (or even a video game) it is actually taken on the Sturt Highway near the state border between South Australia and Victoria. It is mainly a fruit fly checkpoint for people entering the Riverland area from Victoria. It is in Yamba, near Renmark / Paringa in South Australia. The bridge / arch was originally donated by Dunlop back when the Formula One Grand Prix race first started in Adelaide from 1985 to 1995. They continued to sponsor the upkeep of the bridge until 2000. I have read that there is some argument whether or not to keep it due to nobody wanting to pay the estimated $75,000 repair and upgrade costs.

First of all, I didn't want to pause here. However, my previous workstation hardware forced me to do so. This photo is now my first rendering with the new machine.

I like these light rail arches very luckily there are around 731 of them in Berlin;) They are there for a wide variety of purposes. Among other things, they were used as warehouses and business premises, later even discos and bars. They are also used as underpasses.

Apartments or studios were not built because the rumbling of the trains is not to be endured here. (ツ) By the way, here we see arcs 045 to 055!

Established in 1876, Bodie is the most complete Ghost Town in the U.S.

The last residence left in 1942 when the U.S. government forced all non essential mining operations to close down, due to the war effort.

At its height, Bodie had a population of approximately10,000 and about 2000 buildings.

Somewhere around 17 gold mines were in operation as well.

Today there is just under 200 building standing.

Bodie is located close to Bridgeport, Ca. at an elevation of almost 8400ft. Very close to the Ca.- Nv. border.

Eastern Gouta was under siege for 5 years, during these 5 years civilians faced all kind of torture from Assad and his forces.

On February 2018, Syrian army forces backed by Russian warplanes escalated the offensive on Eastern Gouta, and killed hundreds of people.

On April 2018 civilians in Eastern Gouta were forced to evacuate their homes, and were displaced to Idlib.

Capo Caccia

Capo Caccia is situated a few kilometres from Alghero, on the southern point of a huge limestone triangle that wedges out into the sea. There are characteristic, impressive cliffs (nearly 300 m high) on its west side.

Capo Caccia is renowned for the underground labyrinth of mysterious caves discovered in 1700. The most famous one is Grotta di Nettuno (2500 m long) that can be reached by sea or on ground climbing the 656 steps of Escala del Cabirol that lead to the cave. There is a beautiful transparent lake (La Marmora) with two small sandy beaches just at its entrance.

Capo Caccia is one of the wildest places in Sardinia. Inland, there is an extraordinary natural reserve established by Italian Botanic Association in 1970 and covering nearly three thousand hectares. It's a marvellous garden full of plants unique to the world. Capo Caccia is frequented by big birds of prey. Many of them are quite rare in other parts of the world.

Travelling towards the north you will come upon Porto Conto, a beautiful bay protected from winds by high cliffs. Nearby, past the village of Fertilia, the prehistoric Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju with 36 graves and the Nuraghe Palmavera can be visited. These are some of the most antique testimonies of the past in this area.

Capo Caccia is the perfect place for diving enthusiasts - there are about 20 different immersion points accessible thanks to scuba diving guides. The sea water is crystal-clear and the submerged caves are full of colourful fish and sea plants including red corral. Most of the underwater excursions are accessible by everybody and the average depth is 25 meters. Some of them are reserved only for the most expert scuba divers.

Capo Caccia offers an ideal environment for other sports enthusiasts for the likes of swimming to aqua gym, from windsurfing to water skiing and canoeing, from mountain biking to horse riding or hiking.

Numerous boat excursions are organised, for example the Riviera del Corallo excursion with its wonderful landscape used as a scenery for many films, Faradada Island (Isola Faradada) to the west of Capo Caccia, Piana Island to the north, Porto Conte Bay with its beautiful beaches, Punta del Giglio and the most spectacular excursions in the famous caves Grotta di Nettuno, Grotta Verde and Grotta dei Ricami.

There are many places and monuments to explore inland such as the antique towers (Torre del Bollo, Torre del Tramariglio, Torre del Pegna) or the Nuraghe Santimbena together with ruins of a Roman villa, and finally, the picturesque old town of Alghero.

When winter comes around in this part of California, and we get what is now the rare occurrence of seven days of rain (.03") and fog, I'm forced into my archives, not that I mind that much. The year 2011 was the last time we had a decent rain at this longitude, l and when we have such a circumstance, you throw your camera and a sandwich in the car and head to Yosemite. Yosemite has at least 10 prominent* (i.e., they have names) waterfalls, and even a couple of inches of rain will produce wonderful waterfalls without PhotoShopping. One of my favorites is Bridal Veil which is one of the very first you see coming into the valley. The winds are constant from top to bottom and you are guaranteed of getting wet if not soaked, but the idea is to get the wispy wind blown top of the falls and hope for some definition, enough for the newer to know that it is spectacular to see and stand in.

It is a somewhat dangerous falls with the trail and bridges slick, and if you're an idiot who does not take heed of the signs, California could very easily lose six more residents (as happened about three weeks after this picture was taken). That sets the stage. The rest is to your imagination. I think tomorrow I'll either move onto the highest waterfall in NA, Yosemite which is a double falls of 2,425 feet! Or, I've been saving one of nature's wildlife flower masterpieces.

An empty barn, still in good shape waits quietly for its end, still years away. Its usefulness has been thwarted by economic reasons. Many strong men and women today have been left behind by a world of technology that caught them unawares.

OK, I’ve been forced to reveal this picture earlier than planned. I'm sorry if it's not as explicit as some of you may have been hoping for!, but I am finding it hard to convey intimacy and sensuality with just two flower stems and not even any leaves to mimic arms! Is it just me, or am I actually getting something 'intimate' in the positioning I have achieved?

I don’t know why I came up with the “Ooooh Henry”title but it just came into my head as I looked at his loving look down into her eyes (probably screwed shut) and her murmuring those words as she …… Well!.

But having given it that title I wondered what I could write about the picture so I Googled “Oooh Henry!” and suddenly the Urban Dictionary was there saying

1. A crunchy chocolate bar.

2. What a girl usually shouts when she's in bed with a guy named Henry

I'm not showing you the link you get if you Google "Oh Henry" and pick the Urbandictionary link as it is yuk further down. But....

Now, I hadn’t actually heard of an Oh Henry chocolate bar, but I’m better informed now (and it looks rather tasty) but the bit “What a girl usually shouts when she's in bed with a guy named Henry” fitted well with my picture of two romantic daffodils.

So I wondered if I Googled “Oh Mike Urbandictionary” if Mike would have as much luck. Well, it got more complex as it would with Mike, and the details got saucier too, especially if you kept reading down, to the point that I only dare share the link rather than duplicate what it says, here www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Mike

But I have more romantically themed flower pictures to take, so I’m off now.

This Megachile (Leafcutter) bee was so keen to get to the nectar on this dianella flower that it forced its way in before the flower was fully open.

As street photographers, we are only too well aware of the devastation wreaked on the high street by Covid-19. With most retail being forced to close as wave-after-wave of restrictions have been imposed, foot traffic has fallen off a cliff. People are in the most part nowhere to be seen. If they are, it is scurrying to the supermarkets and food shops masked and keen to avoid the eye of anyone they meet.

Although initially the pain of cinemas was shared in the press, for the most part, their pain has been relegated to the back pages of the business section, as other larger and more visible businesses cry out for help. Unfortunately, any business, local or global within the hospitality sector has been particularly hard hit. Cinemas with their business model relying on packing in as many customers into a confined space for several hours have virtually nowhere to go. Even after the restrictions are lifted, people are going to be highly reticent for some time yet to spend several hours in darkness within inches of unknown strangers.

In North London, we had been blessed with a number of independent cinema groups, who invested heavily to innovate and offer unique film going experiences. Whether in the food they offered, the range of films shown or the comfort and luxury of the cinemas themselves. Prices while slightly higher than the mass-market cinema chains were not exorbitant and business was good.

They now lie forlorn and in darkness on the high street. Almost as if a display of defiance, the Arthouse cinema in Crouch End continued to light its façade, perhaps sending out the message that it had not given up and intended one day to return to its former glory. I felt I wanted to capture its pain as it remained under enforced closure.

When photographing the cinema, I looked to isolate the building from the surroundings, which were either unattractive or on the adjacent side, a building site. To achieve this I exposed for the highlights and allowed parts of the building to fall into shadow. At f11 I was able to create a small sunburst from the main light just above the statue. The 6400 ISO did not appear to create a significant amount of noise and with image stabilisation, I was able to achieve a relatively sharp image at 1/10s handheld.

In post-production, I used Adobe Camera Raw for my initial workflow and firstly worked to bring out the maximum amount of detail in the colour shot. I then imported the final DNG into Photoshop for some cleaning up and curve adjustments before importing into Silver Effex to create deeper shadows and more definition in the highlights.
