The apostle Paul is writing to the Romans, reminding them that they are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. He quotes from the Old Testament book of Isaiah, specifically Isaiah 28:16. In this verse, the prophet is speaking of a time when God will restore his people from exile and establish them in their own land once again. But the promise is not just for the physical land of Israel, but for spiritual Israel as well. Those who put their trust in the Lord will not be disappointed or put to shame. This is because, as Paul goes on to say in Romans 10:13, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” When we call on Jesus Christ to be our Savior and Lord, we are trusting in him completely for our salvation. And he will never let us down. We may experience trials and difficulties in this life, but we can be confident that, through Christ, we will ultimately be victorious.

For soil classification, percent by weight must often be converted to percent by volume. Historically, this has been accomplished by using standardized comparison charts (Field Book for Describing and Sampling Soils, Ver. 3.0, pp. 7-1 to 7-9). Although well intentioned, many of these estimates have been proven to be quite variable and inconsistent.
A better way is to use the procedure outlined in the “SOIL SURVEY FIELD AND LABORATORY METHODS MANUAL”, Section 3.7.5 Slaking (Disaggregation) for Identification and Semiquantification of Cemented Materials; pp. 126-127. This procedure takes into consideration bulk density and particle density of the materials.
Ironstone concretions are strongly or more cemented and for soil interpretation purposes are considered rock fragments. The “Rock Fragments” column should be used for conversion. For example, 50 percent by weight would equal about 36 percent by volume.
Plinthite nodules are less than strongly cemented and for soil interpretation purposes are considered pararock fragments. The “Pararock Fragments” column should be used for conversion. For example, 50 percent by weight would equal about 43 percent by volume.
CAUTION: The volume of cemented plinthite nodules may not include the total content of plinthite. There is still debate as to a requirement of plinthite to be cemented. Some soil scientists consider a red redox concentration that can be removed intact and that has firm rupture resistance meets the definition of plinthite if evidence exists it will irreversibly harden. This consideration is highly subjective and makes a consistent volume estimate complicated; however, at a minimum the volume of cemented plinthite can be reasonable determined and should be used as the minimum value for plinthite content.
