Dr. Jennifer Ong for Assembly 2012
Uniquely qualified to run for Assembly District 20’s seat. Here is why…
Over the last twenty years, Dr. Jennifer Ong has made a commitment in her professional work and volunteer efforts to improve the quality of life for all Californians. Having experienced first-hand what decent union jobs can do for families with fair wages, health benefits and a pension- Jennifer’s mother worked at the concession stands in the Oakland Coliseum and her father was a produce man at Lucky’s grocery store- Jennifer and her three siblings who were successful products of local public school education earned their college degrees through their parents’ union benefits and accessible student loans.
Jennifer has been a successful advocate for health care in Sacramento as a leader in the state and county optometric associations and the founder of the Alameda County Hepatitis B Free Campaign. In Washington D.C., Jennifer served as a member of the State Government Relations Executive Board of the American Optometric Association. Jennifer has advocated, monitored and crafted legislative policies such as:
1) SB 120 – The legislation which requires nutritional information to be posted in restaurant chains
2) AB 1224 – The legislation which increases access to vision services for the needy especially those living in remote areas
3) The prevention of the elimination of eye care benefits to Medi-Cal recipients
Jennifer’s legislative experiences around social justice have been extensive while serving as a cohort for Urban Habitat’s Social Equity Caucus and as a leader for various Asian Pacific American organizations. After assisting internationally on behalf of environmental issues, Jennifer returned to her local community, to provide conservation education to Hayward schools, to reduce blight as a member of the Keep Hayward Clean and Green Task Force and to decrease crime while serving on Alameda County’s Family Violence Council.
Jennifer served as the Chair of the Gender and Racial Equity Committee and completed her term as the first appointed Chair of the Budget Committee of the Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women. Acknowledging her experiences as a Filipino immigrant at 11 years old, Jennifer possesses a deep appreciation for the many ways we can all advance the cause of a more just and respectful diverse society.
After acquiring accessible capital for a small business loan, Jennifer purchased and continues to successfully manage her own optometric practice for over 12 years. She prides herself on being a responsible and conscientious small business owner. Jennifer employs 7 members of her office staff and contributes directly to the local economy and the community.
Dr. Jennifer Ong has the skills and experiences to be a leader in Sacramento who will turn challenges into opportunities for restoring success to California.

Journaling reads: Hi! I' Cutie!!! I'm a gorgeous (even if I say so LOL) lucky pet, I live in London now, with my adopted mum Cynthia who loves me very much and has me on the desk by her Mac, she even talks to me!!!(yes! I know, these old ladies are a bit strange sometimes!!!) so even though I can't answer back, I am happy to be loved and have company! I think my ancestors are from some place in the world, I know my adopted mum saw one of my uncles & aunties in the net & fell in love with me immediately, so she asked my birth mum, Mirjam, (who is one of the greatest, most talented ladies in the whole wide world!!!!) if she could make me. Time went and my mum Cynth had forgotten all about it... ...until one day the bell rung and there I was, inside a package with a card!!! She got very emotional (yes, another thing these old ladies do!!!! and even shed a tear or two, as my mum really really love my birth mum Mirjam and admires her a lot, I know it meant a lot more than just a little cutie toy for her. Since then, She has been so very happy and so I have a great adopted home!!!! I know she also likes the fact that my colors coordinate well with the colors of her bedroom as she is a bit obsessive with that kind of thing! I am very proud of my new home as I know only very very special things like me get to stay in the desk!!! About a month or so ago I got a new adopted brother!!! His name is Bart the Frog, but I will leave it for him to tell his own story... is ALL ABOUT ME right now!!!!!! I hope you like me and enjoy my story as much as my mum Cynth does... she had been waiting for a chance to tell about me, so she was really happy when she saw the opportunity to let me tell it!!!!! Hope you have a great weekend, I need to go now as my mum is calling me, she needs to eat something Bye bye!!!!!!

This time around we (my 2 & 4 yr old granddaughters and me) stayed in the car and I often shot through my windshield stopped in the quiet (a miracle!) road while they slept but there are trails, stops and pull-offs that others make it a vacation must!!

For the Global Day of Action people in all corners of the world came together to send out the message that it’s time for the banks to help sort out the financial mess that they caused by introducing a 0.05% tax on financial transactions (aka the Robin Hood Tax). This tiny tax could raise hundreds of billions to tackle poverty and climate change. And what a great, loud and colourful message it was that people in over 40 countries sent to European leaders.
The huge diversity of events, bringing together thousands of organisations, happened across five continents.Quite clearly, there is global support for this simple idea. We’ve got loads of photos and stories on our Posterous page.
It was a lot of fun but there is a serious message behind the antics. The reckless behaviour of the financial sector has a global impact. The economic crisis triggered by financial meltdown has pushed tens of millions of people around the world into poverty and jeopardised commitments to tackling climate change.

For a "Bokeh" photo session, Lyon, France, on June 27, 2023, I used my 1971 Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP fitting the Zenit Helios 44M-6 lens 1:2 f=58mm.
I used a color film Kodak Gold 200 and the 36-exposure film was exposed for 200 ISO. Exposures were determined using a Minolta Autometer III light meter fitted with a 10° finder.

After exposures the film was processed by a local lab service using the C-41 process. The film was then digitized at 24MP using a Sony A7 body fitted to a Minolta Slide Duplicator installed on a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5. The RAW files obtained were then processed without intermediate files in LR and edited to the final jpeg pictures.
All views of the film are presented in the dedicated album either in the printed framed versions and unframed full-size jpeg accompanied by some documentary smartphone Vivio Y76 color pictures.

About the camera body :
This Asahi Optical Company (originally (旭光学工業株式会社, Asahi Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushiki-Gaisha) SLR was sold to its first owner on December 11, 1971.
The ASAHI PENTAX Spomatic SP was produced in Japan from 1964 to 1971. This exemplary was sold to me on July 25, 2022 after complete servicing of the camera with the beautifully conserved user manual, the original international warranty card, and a booklet describing the ASAHI PENTAX system.
The camera is equipped with its original normal lens Asahi Opt. Co. Super-Takumar 1:1.8 f=55 (M42 mount), a ASAHI PENTAX Skylight 49 mm filter, the original shade hood in a small leather case, the neck leather strap and the body half ever-ready case only. The two CdS photoresistors are still operated by a functionnal circuitry that is not sensitive by conception to the voltage difference between the original mercury (1.35V) and nowadays available silver-oxyde (1.55 V) batteries. This simple circuitry operates only with the closed diaphragm and gives matching values to a silicon Minolta Autometer III lightmeter.
About the lens:
This Helios 44M-6 is the normal lens fitted of my KMZ Zenit 122 circa 1994. using the M42 mount is the multi-coated version 6 of the Helios 44M manufactured in 1997 at Юпитер, (Оптико-механический завод «Юпитер» , "Jupiter") Valday, Novgorod region.
My exemplary of Zenit-122 was produced in 1994 by the Russian company KMZ (Красногорский механический завод, Krasnogorskiy Mechanicheskiy Zavod) located in the Moscow region. Zenit-122 were also manufactured by BelOMO factory. From 1990 to 2005, about 2 millions of Zenit-122 were overall produced. The camera is built on the tough previous Zenit chassis and uses the same curtain Leica-type shutter with no slow speeds. The body is cased with ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styren) thermoplastic. Zenit-122 is equipped with a two CdS cells for light metering (25-400 ISO) using a LED indicator in the viewfinder.

My daugther decided to make this card for her bus driver who has been with her all throughout Middle school. She used various critter images from Mama Elephant and coloured them with pencil crayons. She then framed them on Taylored Expression stitched die cut circles. För nionde gången arrangerade vi den 20 sep Barnsjukhusets dag på Liseberg där vi byter ut sjukhusmiljö, påfrestande känslor och operationer mot karuseller, lek och glädje. Vi är oerhört tacksamma över vårt samarbete med Liseberg som bjuder på inträde till cirka 750 familjer med tillhörande 1600 åkpass till patienter och deras syskon. Detta är också en dag där drömmar förverkligas genom att barnen får autografer och ta selfies med sina stora idoler, som i år bestod av Pia Sundhage, Jakob Karlberg, Ida Lafontaine, Lisa Ajax, Jennie Johansson, Benn Harradine, Thed Björk, Odain Rose, Emma Green och Johan Glans!
En liten kille, han stod och pussade på sitt autografblock och gled sedan iväg som en liten sol ut mot nöjesparken. Han var det perfekta kvittot på att lyckan nått fram!
Ett varmt tack till Liseberg, idoler och volontärer! Tillsammans skapar vi läkande skratt och positiva stunder hos barn som går igenom tuffa tider på Drottning Silvias barn- och ungdomssjukhus.

The Green Wing Macaw is primarily red, it is often mistaken for a Scarlet Macaw, but in reality there are many differences between the two macaw species. The Green Wing is a darker red as compared to the scarlet red of the Scarlet Macaw. The Scarlet has a bare facial patch and a yellow band of feathers on its wings. Whereas, the Green Wing has red, or, red and black, feather stripes on its facial patch, and a green band of feathers following the red on its wings.
The Green Wing has a very sensitive, responsive, and affectionate disposition. As a youngster, depending on the individual, he may sometimes go through a period of "terrible twos" or over-sensitivity, but this phase will not last for long if met with patience and persistence by praising acceptable behaviors and discouraging those that are not acceptable. The Green Wings tend to be more vocal than the other macaws in that they make more moans, groans, and baby sounds when they are young.
Depending on upbringing, an older baby may sometiBaby Green Wing growingmes become afraid and defensive when moved into a new home and environment, but this will pass in a day or so when he gets to know his new family and home. It is important to keep the high intelligence of this animal in mind when getting to know one of these magnificent creatures. Try to imagine the reaction of a child that has just been moved into a new home with strange people. Depending on the age, background, and personality of the baby, this adjustment may be instantaneous, or, it may take a couple of days. Try not to pass judgment or form an opinion of any baby macaw until you have given him a chance to adjust to his new home. Get to know him and make him feel loved and wanted. The rewards for your patience will be returned by the devotion of an affectionate and loving, pet and companion that will last for most, if not the rest, of your lifetime
