6000 riders cycling 100km to raise money for cancer research.
A footbridge that crosses the Storrow Lagoon leads to another that crosses Storrow Drive (so you can get from the Esplanade to the Back Bay without being run over).
For our day in port at Villefranche-sur-Mer, Mike and I joined a group of fellow passengers for a private tour of Nice, Èze, and Monte Carlo. Our first stop was Nice, where our guide (Jacques Cygler) led us on a walk through the old town (Vieux Nice) and its historic center. Along the way, we had a peek inside Maison Auer (7 rue Saint-François de Paule -- a sweet shop that dates back to 1820. In addition to offering chocolates and truffles, Maison Auer is perhaps best known for its candied fruits, several varieties of which are displayed in the shop's front window.
BLAH! I'm sorry we disappeared for a month! My computer crashed and they had to ship it over seas to get fixed. :( Even though I didn't have access to Flickr and couldn't upload pictures for 52 weeks I still took a picture every week! So again I am terribly sorry for miss four weeks of 52 weeks.

A special concert was held with Laurie Anderson for her Midnight Moment, 'Heart of a Dog' on Monday, January 4 at 11:30 pm. In honor of the 9/11 first responder dogs to whom her film is partly dedicated, this unique performance by Laurie Anderson was transmitted to "silent disco" headphones for humans and low-decibel speakers for dogs. The event began at 11:30pm to midnight to accompany the video playing on the electronic billboards from 11:57 pm to midnight.
For a fee you can hire some porters to carry you up or down the mountain, and generally get in the way of people climbing the hard way.
Frankly, you'd only be cheating yourself.

This was worn by Miss Emilie Grigsby (1876-1964) who was a wealthy independent American who came to England from New York. She established a salon which was frequented by writers and the military. She was considered to be one of the great international beauties, with extremely pale, almost transparent skin and golden hair. She was frequently the subject of articles in the New York Times during the early 20th century. Her clothes were purchased from couturiers in London, Paris, and New York, and demonstrated an elegantly avant-garde approach to style.

Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk
(February to October 2020)
This exhibition will present the kimono as a dynamic and constantly evolving icon of fashion, revealing the sartorial, aesthetic and social significance of the garment from the 1660s to the present day, both in Japan and the rest of the world.
The ultimate symbol of Japan, the kimono is often perceived as traditional, timeless and unchanging. Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk, the UK's first major exhibition on kimono, counters this conception, presenting the garment as a dynamic and constantly evolving icon of fashion.

For International Women’s Day 2023, UN Women Sudan teamed up with civil society organizations (CSOs), youth activists, artists, development partners and the UN to host events, raise awareness and galvanize action to bridge the gender digital divide.
The theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March 2023, was, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. This year Sudan marked the main “gender equality” day, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of women’s movement in the country, with a variety of events and activities to honor women's accomplishments, recognize their contributions to society, and advocate for continued efforts toward gender equality. The events allowed young women and women to present and amplify their voices in support of gender equality and women's empowerment.
Pictured: In keeping with the global theme of International Women's Day - DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality - the UN in Sudan and the School of Mathematical Science at the University of Khartoum organized an event to discuss the opportunities and challenges that women face in digital technology and education, as well as the women who are leading the way in transformative technology and digital education. This was followed by a demonstration of innovative digital applications developed by young women from Sudan's School of Mathematics.
