I was back out in our meadow this morning. No dew today but I found this lonely Lady on a small, dried weed. It was cool out and no wind. She was quite still for me to set-up and take around 30 shots for focus stacking @ 4x magnification.
I went to look for the chamois again today, and although they showed up they didn’t seem pleased that I had brought my mom along... they made a big show of giving warning calls and sprinting towards cover while not appearing particularly nervous. (They do remind me a bit of cats.) As I didn’t manage to capture their show very well I took a few flower shots instead...
You're right, Mike, the alligator blocking the trail is more impressive photographed with the big lens (at 172mm, 1.6 crop)! Definitely not going to mess with this guy. Elm Lake, Brazos Bend State Park, Needville, Texas.
The Osprey is a migratory raptor from Central Asia that dot large lakes and the coasts in the country during winters. They are often seen competing with the local birds like the crows, Brahminy Kites and Black Kites for prey like the fish. They are often found near shallow lakes and water bodies with high perches. The birds hunt once-twice and then rest most of the day maddeningly for us. Often it is a long wait to see it in action. Interestingly, some don't go back and we speculate that they maybe too old to make that journey.
This was shot in an estuary we visited early last year. The area was teeming with waders - 1000's of them. We were there during high tide and hence it was difficult to shoot many birds. The Osprey was resting on a small wooden log in the middle of the water and flew away as we approached it.

She gave me a heart of stone and I made it glow. :-)
Romantic right? But honestly, she really gave me that stone, in a box with hearts on it. She said it was hers and she wanted me to have it. There were conditions though, that at some point I had to photograph it. Being skint, I decided now was the time! :-)

After failing to get out with the camera on Thursday and Friday due to other commitments, and working Saturday and Sunday, I decided to head out for some night time photography in Plymouth after work last night.
I picked up Louis Goldman on the way into town and having no plan we just went for a wander.
Over the weekend Smeaton's Tower has been lit up all red to commemorate Armistice Day and 100 years since the end of WWI, so remembering this we headed up to The Hoe and thankfully it was still lit up after the evening parades had finished. It was pretty windy up there last night which gave some nice movement in the cloud, giving a well photographed view a more dramatic shot.
I have no idea how long it's going to be lit up like that for, probably not for much longer, so we were lucky to capture it.

Monster size nutcrackers at the German Christmas market in Birmingham. This quintet of very colourful characters was situated on the roof of a beer & mulled wine stall , wishing everybody a "Frohe Weinachten" or Happy Christmas .
