I had lunch today at a local Chinese "buffet" style restaurant. The name escapes me. There's so many of them now days. This one has been here for quite a few years... I used to take my mom there alot. Especially in the later months, 'Cause it was the one place where I knew she would eat well... or at least eat more.

I went there a couple of times immediately following her death. Both times with friends. The second time we went, the gentleman working the register asked about "the little lady" I always had with me. I explained to him that she had passed away. A sad look came over his face as he motioned for one of the ladies that always waited on us. They proceeded to tell me how they would always notice our routine... how, once they seated us, I would always go get my mom a plate of cold items from the salad bar. (and) then go get two hot plates full of food for the both of us.

I had never thought of it that way before. But we did have a "routine" whenever we ate there. The kindness in their voices was so sweet... I had a really hard time going back there after that. I would drive by from time to time, and I would think about it. But my car would always keep going.

A few weeks ago. I was visiting with a friend at work about various restaurants in the area. During the course of this conversation, he mentions this place and we start talking about it. Nothing specific, very casual, day to day kind of talk.

Shortly after this, I made my first visit back for lunch. Today was my second...

I did go back and thank my friend. I'm not so sure the sentiment came across just right. I sometimes have a habit of stumbling awkwardly with my words. But I was grateful... a hurdle had been jumped.

Circular Quay gets ready for NYE … …

Circular Quay has two peak occasions, New Year's Eve and Vivid. I had a chance to have a look at the preparations that have been made for New Year's Eve 2018 today, All tidy, and ready for the masses. Sure jobs need finishing, but if you squint, and apply your imagination you can almost see a Citadis among the trees!

Welcome Message

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Spanish Society for Parenteral and

Enteral Nutrition (SENPE), we would like to invite you

to the 40th ESPEN Congress 2018, which will be held

for the 4th time in Spain.

Following the Congresses in Barcelona (1987, 2012)

and Madrid (2000), the Spanish Society would like

to welcome all ESPEN members again to the city of

Madrid.

Madrid is the capital of Spain and one of the main

European metropolis. It is a captivating city including

some of the most visited art museums in the world

and a cultural heritage where history and modernity

blend effortlessly together. Its bright sunny weather

offers the perfect setting for a walk through the wide

green areas in the city or any other leisure activity of

your choice. In addition to this, the city´s kind-hearted

people are active participants in offering visitors

a warm welcome.

With the theme “Nutrition without borders” we want

to express our interest to explore new topics in clinical

nutrition, in different clinical settings, besides the

multidisciplinary and worldwide environment of the

Congress.

Working in close collaboration with the ESPEN

Committee Members, we have developed an attractive

program that aims to continue ESPEN’s effort

to improve Nutritional Care and Education. With

the occasion of celebrating the 40th anniversary of

ESPEN Congress and in order to remember the main

achievements of the Society during this long trajectory

we will “season” the schedule with some special

events.

We are convinced that the program of ESPEN 2018

offers a great opportunity for physicians, dietitians,

pharmacists, nutritionists, scientists and nurse

involved in the field of nutrition and metabolism to

meet and discuss cutting edge science in an informal

atmosphere, strengthening old and sparkling new

collaborations.

For this transformation, I decided to keep the pot with the tights and create a performance art video with it. Thinking about dancing and cooking, one thing that they both have in common is keeping time. So I decided to keep time in the video by tapping my foot. I changed the tempo of the taps throughout the video to create a feeling of urgency/increasing intensity. The concept and creativity was stronger in this piece than the other transformations, but feedback tells me I still need to work on craftsmanship. I need a better quality video and maybe an installation with multiple parts, keeping the pot and tights included.

In the latest of our #InADaysWork social media series, we went out with response officers from the Wigan and Leigh district over two days to give a behind-the-scenes look at some of the jobs they cover in the region.

On Tuesday 3 December and Wednesday 4 December, officers deployed from both Leigh and Wigan in the early morning to respond to incidents, with us heading out with PS Luke McLachlan – who has served the streets of the region for four-and-a-half-years.

The shift we covered on both days with PS McLachlan was 7am-4pm. On Tuesday, the E Relief response team responded to around 30 incidents, including a suspected drunk driver first thing in the morning, a high-value business burglary, and a dangerous driver with no insurance.

Wednesday saw us team with D Relief. Around 28 incidents were responded to, including several arrests, mainly two separate occasions of suspected burglary – one in a supermarket and the other in a domestic dwelling. A stolen vehicle was also located and seized.

A combined nine arrests were made over both days for offences including burglary and harassment.

The high-value business burglary was the standout task on Tuesday morning, when 17 cars were suspected to be stolen at a value of around £500,000. Officers have worked hard to recover as many vehicles as possible, with 12 so far recovered.

Whereas on Wednesday, approximately 6kg of Class B drugs were seized by officers at a parcel distribution company.

We're here to help in your time of need; report to us online, if able, on www.gmp.police.uk or via 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.

About 2011 Children First Ness Raft and Duck Race

The Inverness and Black Isle Photography Group were asked to the annual Great River Ness Raft Race. It is one of Inverness City's most colourful events. Teams of four are invited to build their own rafts and race them down the River Ness.

The races are divided into two categories: Commercial and Club. All entrants are encouraged to decorate their rafts and there is a prize for the most original and humorous entry. The best decorated rafts then form a procession around the City Centre and back to the River Ness for the start of the races.

The races start at the Fisherman's Carpark beside Bught Park and race down river to the finish which is at the Greig Street pedestrian bridge.

Rafts are taken out of the river at Friars Shott, near the Waterfront Bar. The Waterfront very kindly provides soup and sandwiches to all competitors.

In the search for a better musical experience extracting better sound from my recent iFi DAC upgrade and get more pleasure in the sound presentation I discovered SOTM products, I searched for information of network streamers and similar user opinions about them, saw videos and all that I can find about on the web, and after reading lots of average consensus of users in their with their experience, and after some weeks acquired an SOTM sMS-200 Ultra without listening.

I have to admit that acquiring without listening is risky decision, and sometimes you could end with a unit that do not give any positive enhancement to your system. The intent was to remove my noisy Mac Pro from degrading the sound of the DAC, is this case an iFi iDSD Pro that has galvanic isolation but is very sensible to all cables and accessories before it, as any other DAC the quality of the USB connection is primordial to a better sound experience.

You can clean your computer USB, but you will pay the same or more than buy a optimised and clean dedicated computer exclusively for audio.

It’s that quality USB connection I was searching and found it on the SOTM sMS-200 Ultra, it impressive how a single device for giving you a great USB link affects the final sound.

Computers are terribly noisy devices, electricity in an apartment is full of noise, that contaminates the computer, processor, motherboard, fan, hard drive, external devices with bad power supply’s, even software resource needs generate noise, and that noise affects the link that is made from the computer to the DAC.

Any user like me trying to get better audio will start a journey of cleaning that USB transmission with galvanic isolated solutions, USB regenerators and re-clockers, and many other solutions that exist on the market and stores that clean the USB signal. Some of devices at every step give you an extra more, or a different presentation, or change the total presentation, sometimes in a good way, other times not accomplishing what they promote or I expect for the price

What did SOtM do, they produced a small audio optimised network computer to connect to your DAC by USB, it has an optimised and excellent internal clock board, but they build it with high quality audiophile components, for me they have made something very special that results very well on my system.

The SOtM SMS-200 Ultra is a simple audiophile network streamer for the only propose to pass the bits to your DAC in the cleanest way possible.

The sMS-200 Ultra supports various audio standard protocols like the Roon RAAT, HQPlayer, LibreSpot, Minim Server, Airplay, Bubble UPnP, DLNA, Squeezelite, and runs a light linux optimised version for audio called Eunhasu that can be upgraded with more functionality and add support for future DAC hardware.

Their service and support has been very receptive to beginner questions, with fast reply and helpful responses, thats a thumbs up for support. For me, product support is one of the most important features of any product.

The sOTM sMS-200 Ultra is an awesome product it made a big change for the better to my music enjoyment… The final result is based on my personal system, room, cables, and could be different on your system, but one thing I have certain, If anyone tries one of this units the change will be noticed for the better.

When I dedicate some of my time to write about it, it’s because I the product quality and benefit it gave me. Is common that the new upgraded unit is better than the last used solution, and the big motive I upgraded an stayed in the system. But regarding the presence I feel now when I listen to a good album, the SOtM sMS-200 Ultra is one of the best upgrades I have done in the last few years, and the upgrades where a lot.

Apart from some rock concerts, small jazz groups and some classical music concerts, my live music experience is not that active, I will not compare the real presentation that I can achieve, but instead the enjoyment the SOtM offered to me from my system, and with it came a new musical experience. The difference of hearing a real orchestra in plain euforia is something that I never heard any system being capable of, the real thing is a more powerful experience that any system or my small one can reproduce, I herd systems close to that reality with prices impossible to archive by a normal person, but with my hardware limitation, the emulation of the artist presence was upgraded to a new level.

All of this to explain that is difficult to quantify how better in my case the SOtM is compared to reality, but I can quantify listen experience before and after the SOtM, and here it goes.

The SOtM is all about music, after changing the in the box power supply for an SBooster it really shines, the music presentation grows a lot, and the speakers grow the sound to a huge presentation, the sound is so big that the room feels larger, a friend of mine when showing the music, started to look behind searching for surround speakers on the back wall, the SOtM sMS 200 Ultra really made the presentation of some albums impressive. One example of this is the Pink Floyd track On The Run from the Dark Side of the Moon album, or tracks from the album Blood from This Mortal Coil.

The SOtM sMS-200 Ultra is musical and not aggressive in any way, and has this 3D way of presenting the sound a sensation of magical sweetness without loss of information, I am loving it and ordered an SPS-500 Power supply with silver cable, it deserves the best friend to complement and shine even more.

The sound from my Mac Pro was somehow a little bi dimensional when compared to the SOtM, the highs sometimes where to much, and lacked the dimension that the SOtM has, it sounded ok but was not holographic like the sound I have now, and lacked some musicality, some albums where too harsh and very aggressive to be played, this doesn’t mean a bad recording will sound good, the bad will sound always bad, but good recording elevate your experience in a way with the SOtM that the computer did not acomplished.

When used with a good DAC and a quality usb cable, in my case the iFi iDSD Pro DAC and the Audioquest Diamond USB, it gave me impressive results connected to my Focal Solo 6be.

I find the SOtM sMS-200 Ultra very sensitive to power cables, I used Audioquest tornado cables on the iFI and SOtM, and they proved to result very well in my setup.

So I think audiophiles will love it, for me is not an option to revert back to my Mac Pro as a USB source.

If you are using a DAC connected to your computer, you have to try an SOtM streamer and see what you have been loosing in sound with your computer, and pair the SOtM with a good and decent power supply and it will really shine.

Traditionally, a Burmese man with tatoos over his chests, thighs and arms is seen as very manly. Also, some wear special charmed tatoos which are thought to give protection from evil spirits, weapons and curses. And Burmese man are proud of their tatoos. Nowadays, there are people who still follow the tradition but the number is lower than it was in the past.

A historical note: In 1930, a man by the name of Saya San led an uprising against the occupying British. He offered his followers 'bullet-proof vests' -- charmed tatoos over their chests -- for protection against the bullets of the British while fighting with only swords and spears.

The process of getting a tatoo still involves a lot of pain. More importantly, people do not realise that it is extremely dangerous to have a tatoo done like this. Some cases of HIV infection in Burma originate from the raw needles of tatoo-guns.

While this man was proud to be photographed, the tatoo maker wasn't impressed; he probably thought I was intefering with his work. So I had to dash.

Hello twiinz!

Last week, all of you had to do a Winter Couture shot for the TWODELS magazine of this year's winter collection. Me and the twiinz have seen gorgeous, fantastic and . . . interesting shots. But hey! This was your first theme, and the first time your twiinz showed me how they model. Anyhow, even if it's the first theme, we still need some twiinz going back home! BUT we also need the cover of the TWODELS magazine. Let's see . . .

*Don't blame my harsh jugement. I know it sometimes can be a little bit hard to take. But that's the way it is. :)*

NO ORDER FOR THE JUDGING!

Avalon & Alia : I must say, those cat hats are quite cute! It's really different from other winter clothes. That's what I like about this first picture. Plus you're looking very confident and stunning here, just as if you were ready to rock out the TWODELS magazine cover! Though there's one thing I don't like about this photo : the background. I don't think it fits in the 'winter mood'. You could have also changed the lighting, and make it softer. So it'd would have looked more like you were posing for a winter collection.

Note : 8.6/10 Congrats! :)

Iris and Tamara : Wow. Your poses and faces connections are perfect. You look absolutely gorgeous, and the outfits are great. I don't think there's anything bad about this picture. I see two girls that have a lot of potential, and show it! By the way, those blue eyes are breathtaking. You're lucky...

Note : 9/10. Congrats! :)

Rose and Lana : Girls . . . this is . . . a-mah-ziiiiing. You used so much creativity! And I think originality is one of the most important skill for a top model. You did it very, very well. And let's talk about your looks ; wow! You two are real redhead beauties that can definitly wear pretty winter clothes! Good job.

Note : 9.6/10. Congrats! :)

Victoria and Allison : OMG! Allison is totally stealing the show here! You're one of the most gorgeous girl this week, and you've got one of the best outfit! Even though I think Allison looks a lot more like a model than Victoria on this shot, I still think you did a great job. I like the way this picture's having a soft lighting. It's really "winter-ish". Awesome first shot!

Note : 9/10. Congrats! :)

Mary and Ashley : Ok girls, now this is what I was looking for. You blew me away! The snow flakes, the soft ambiance, the outfits...and you, looking so gorgy! It looks like you spent your life posing for magazines. There's nothing bad about this pic. Bravo! I love it.

Note : 9.8/10. Congrats!

Rachel and Bree : Wow, wow, wow! Are you secret top models? This is flawless! Your clothes are to die for. It remembers me a lot of Coco Chanel stuff. I like everything about this picture, as well. You're pretty, girls, and you show it up. You know how to use your beauty. Great job!

Note : 9.3/10. Congrats!

Rylan and Reesey : This is a nice winter shot, but Rylan is looking a bit stiff. On her auditions pic I really liked her and immdediately thought she'd be an awesome poser, but here she disaspointed me. Reesey is looking pretty good, though. She stands out a lot! But only 1 on 2, it's not enough. I want both of you to look as gorgeous as Top Models. Well, girls, I know you can do better than this.

7/10. Congrats! :)

Hope and Esperanza : I like the background and your coats. Othwerwise, I think your makeups kind of ruined the whole thing. I'm not a big fan of those colorful colors. You should have chosed something a little sweeter and softer to represent Winter Couture. Your poses are super great, though. But this is not your best shot.

7/10. Congrats!

Spencer and Riley : Wow! Those outfits are the best out of the bunch! So vintage and edgy at the same time! You wear them really well, and I think your outfits are making the picture. The background is a little bit boring, but you girls are looking so gorgeous that we don't even notice it! Have you ever posed? It looks like you did! Great job.

8.5/10. Congrats! :)

Stacey and Gwen : You look truly pretty here! I like the snow flakes all over your face, it's so 'winter-ish'! Even though there's one thing I dislike : if there wasn't any snow flakes, we couldn't tell it was a Winter Couture shot. The outfits didn't caught my eyes, and I'd have liked to see you from head to toe, which is something important 'cause the challenge of this week was to present a Winter Collection. Overall, it's not a bad picture. But I would have excepected more.

6.9/10. Congrats! :)

Jason and Kayleigh : .. The theme wasn't 'Let's play in the snow!'.Though, this picture looks like it is. You disapointed me. You guys don't look as stunning as you should have. Plus we can barely see your outfits. I repeat ; you had to show me the TWODELS magazine winter collection! It's a funny picture, but not what I wanted.

5/10. Congrats! :)

Sindel and Patricia : Uhm...I have to say ; you look pretty and have great poses. But I don't really like the whole thing. The picture is blurry and the background is boring. Perhaps you could have done better than this? I don't know. Sindel, Patricia. Huge disapointment here. Sorry if I sounded rude.

4/10. Congrats! :)

Jackilyn and Jonah : Even if this is shot is a little blurry, I think you have awesome outfits and that you look great. You improved a lot from your audition picture! It's not WOW, but it's not EW either. You respected the requirements, and I like that.

6.7/10. Congrats! :)

Ok! Judging's over! But who will be on the TWODELS magazine cover? And who will have to leave us?

HERE'S THE PLACES (from best to worst) :

And the girls that are going to be on this week's TWODELS magazine cover are...

1st Place : Mary and Ashley!!! (RainbowDoll489) CONGRATULATIONS. According to me you've done the BEST job this week. And the best always need a prize! Hehe! :D Congrats, you guys are representing this year's TWODELS magazine winter collection !

2nd Place : Lana and Rose ! (Carol Parvati)

3rd place : Rachelle and Bree! (JESSIR)

4th place : Allison and Victoria! (bunnyboo83)

5th place : Iris and Tamara! (bratzfan626)

6th place : Alia and Avalon! (Josh's Tribe)

7th place : Spencer and Riley ! (Drekitude™)

8th place : Rylan and Reesey! (xTahliabellx)

9th place : Hope and Ezperanza! (Blake's Dolls)

10th place : Gwen and Stacey! (M.Johnathan)

11th place : Jackilyn and Jonah! (yo mama stinks so badly)

BOTTOM TWO :

- Jason and Kayleigh ; you didn't respect the theme, which I don't like. Your pic wasn't bad, but it just wasn't what I was looking for.

- Sindel and Patrica ; you respected the theme, but your picture wasn't really model-ish. It was all blurry and boring.

A pair of twiinz is going to be sent home. . . . but which ones? The ones that didn't respect the rules or the ones that don't have a lot of potential to be models (yet) ?

The ones who are leaving are...

Sindel and Patricia. I'm so sorry, but you didn't show me what you could do. You disapointed me. For the moment I don't see any potential in you. But maybe I'm wrong. Well, good luck in the future and it was nice having you in my BNTTM! Goodbye and goodluck! :) xoxox

So, Jason and Kayleigh, you are staying. But next time READ THE RULES and your pic will be a lot better. I'm sure you can be great models. Just have to show it up!

That was it for the judging and eliminationz. The next theme is coming soon! Stay tuned.

For several decades, the Darjeeling locals have been fighting for their own autonomous state called Gorkhaland, named after the ethnic group the area mostly comprises of. Although the 'Gorkhaland revolution' was very violent initially, with several hundred deaths, the battle has been toned down considerably and is now largely peaceful. However, the locals make sure that their demands are rubbed in on every occasion. Computer printout 'Gorkhaland' banners are put up on several shop windows, there is even a 'map of Gorkhaland' on display elsewhere in town, and many shop signs declare 'Darjeeling, Gorhkaland' instead of 'Darjeeling, West Bengal'. Here is one of the computer shop signs in the show window of a store selling snacks and handicrafts in Darjeeling town. (May 2009)

I am pleased to announce you the creation of a new project for Tina who wanted something around a tutu dress set... So I plan to make a real pancake tutu with a gradient in different tulle overlays, inspired by the romantic ballet, where the spirit of Giselle, dancing with her lover, comes to save him from the death.

This set include seven pieces...

- A blouse, fully lined, sewn in a cotton batiste dyed with bright pink color, edged with lace on the bottom sleeves and with pale pink rayon cord around de neckline. Embroidered roses adorn this piece witch closes in the back with beads and loops.

- A pancake tutu sewn with a gradient in different tulle overlays: gold at the top, on dotted cream, on pale pink, and ending below with mauve pink. I used the traditional technique, that is to say, with lots of layers fixed together and with a metal circle inside to maintain a certain rigidity.

- A corseted over-skirt sew in a lovely yellow-cream jacquard silk satin, fully embroidered and edged with lace and burgundy rayon cord. A fake lacing, a knotted rose on the front panel and a real lacing on the back...

- A cream pantyhose, hand painted with acrylic painting, decorated with tiny flowers and leaves rising from the ankle to the knee.

- A short cape, sewn with lace on satin with tiny embroidered roses, edged with fur and closed with a cordon ended with small pompoms. Because I couldn't make up my mind about the color, I I decide to make it reversible: pink or green depending on the mood of the day.

- Hair accessory: some millinery flowers... mounted on hair clips.

- A pair of ballerina shoes.

This set is worn by my "Nijinska" blythe doll customized by me.

I used a real factory Blythe that looks like Matryoshka Maiden and bought especially to become this ballet girl, tribute to Nijinski.
