For Sliders Sunday, I made a composite image from two of my own images one of which is an ICM taken in camera at evening hour. There was some editing post blending. It now shows a truly gusty day!
so here we are, spending 15 days in the UK enjoying the nature, small villages and ruins, and as I like I look for the places where you won't find too many people, down side is you get on such a roads you need to fold-in the outer mirrors and hope for no damage, but even more so for no opposite oncoming traffic because there is nothing else to do then go in reverse all the way back, and also on a day I had to cross a bridge with no room to spare, thanks for it, it had pass-by places on both sides of the bridge with a view to the other side so you could see if your free to go, my turn, rolling up slow and keeping my eyes on both sides of the car and make it a good crossing with no damage, coming to the other side I could relax a bit and steer the car to the right side and let a car that just came up from the opposite side pass-by, but then the lady in that car started to point at me and I was flabbergasted about what is going on, so in a good manner I slide down my window in the hope she can explain to me why, she also slide her window down and say "you are on the right-side", and I respond with the 1 braincell I got that is on that moment overloaded because of that bridge crossing "I always do my best to be (in life) on the right-side", she looks at me and say "the right-side is wrong", my respond "are you sure you got that right ?", following that remark the lady drives on, it took me a day to sort out what had happened and that "in England you drive on the left-side and the right- side is wrong" o boy, did I make a great impression after crossing that bridge.
When I think of Summertime, one image that comes to mind is lying on my back, partially under the shade of a tree, while staring straight overhead at the clouds as they drift by. As a boy, and as and adult, too, I’ve spent many, many hours looking above, contemplating life, assessing where I’ve been and where I want to go, or simply letting my mind wander where it will. This photograph is dedicated to the enjoyment of Summer to its fullest, so (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway) let’s savour each and every day!

There's a lot of work being done in the garden, so I'm not sure if he still owns the house or not. Will keep an eye open, weather permitting.

In memory of Christopher, son of our friends Robin & Jean. Christopher suddenly passed away recently at the age of 42. He is leaving such a hole in his family's heart and lives. Ken & I are sending out hugs to them all, sending out energies into the universe, and hoping that our daughter, Jamie, was there to give Christopher a hug and tell him how our families are linked across the miles, and through Flickr. How sorry we are for his passing.
Please, if you can, light a candle for Christopher. He will be missed SO very much.

My Dad loved to carve birds so when I see a bird perched and posing, I think of him. This father sparrow has been hanging around alot lately. I think there is a nest in our eaves. For a little man, he sure is noisy, but I can think of worse things to listen to :-)

As many opine for the days when the Bozeman Local ran like clockwork and with clean power, no doubt people such as Mark Hemphill yearn for when the MRL #405 plied the rails as DRGW #3047. Although the tonnage on this day won't make a dent in the speed, even with a 1.9% grade ahead, the #405 undoubtedly saw mountain territory in its previous life. The #3047 was one of 22 GP35's delivered to the DRGW between 1964/65. Like most of the GP35 fleet, it lasted just about 28 years, being retired in Dec 1993 along with 17 others. An interesting note is that all 22 GP35's were made to be trailing unit only in 1972, removing cab seats, toilets and radios. I am unsure if this lasted until their retirement or if they were made lead qualified again at some point. Thanks to utahrails.net for the great details! Its an interesting note that by now the #405 has spent close to or more time on the Montana Rail Link than it did the Denver and Rio Grande Western. Time marches on!
The birds eye view is fascinating and today effortless captured thanks to (or not depending on your opinions) the drone. However to have walked and climbed for 2 hours to get this view is exhilarating and the sense of achievement is second to none. From the 500 metre top of Mellbreak looking straight down to the boathouse on Crummuck water. Personally I can’t think of a better way of looking for autumn

A first for me and what a delight! You really needed to get your 'eye in' to see this minute beauty. Positioned so low amongst the rest of the wildflowers and grasses, Joan and I found 4 in total.
The Fly Orchid is one of the small group of Orchids which mimic insects in order to attract visitors. 'Pollination by pseudocopulation' is the scientific term for this pretence whereby a plant emits the scent and has the appearance of an insect. By this impersonation, an insect is drawn to the orchid and while trying to mate with the flower, pollen is gathered onto its body to be distributed onto the next orchid. Fly Orchid is quite distinctive with its yellow-green sepals and the long, divided, red-brown lower lip of the flower. This velvety lip (or labellum) has a shiny, silvery-white band across it, just below the lip's two little lobes. It also has two tiny little red-brown upper petals projecting like tiny goat's horns.

This picture may be amazing for some people and may be the opposite for another but the subject of the picture remains the most important: to reinforce it: a child covered with the Iraqi flag in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a snapshot does not mean more than wait and hope for an Iraqi immigrant in the West, even for another people not inmigrants , may be one day they sat at this place meeting contemplating the past in the present.
