For those of you that don't know. The Goldcrest is the smallest bird in the UK. Even smaller than the Wren. They're fairly difficult to photograph as they flit around a lot.
2023 appears to be the last year of existance for the De Wadden.
National Museums Merseyside plan to deconstruct this auxiliary vessel by the end of the year.
This will be the second preserved ship to be deconstructed (Why don't they use the word scrapped?) by the Merseyside Maritime Museum a decade or so ago the Weaver Packet WINCHAM was broken up.
The Museum appear to be planning a "contemplation space" which resembles a peculiar mausoleum in the bottom of the Graving Dock as part of a redevelopment of the area!!
Whilst there has been no money forthcoming for the restoration and maintenance of the DE WADDEN and also the WINCHAM millions of pounds have been poured into the Slavery Museum over the past two decades and the Museum of Liverpool was constructed a decade ago even though there was a perfectly adequate museum of Liverpool in William Brown Street.

The following notes are from Historic Ships:
DE WADDEN is a three-masted auxiliary schooner built in the Netherlands in 1917. She was built by Gebr Van Diepen of Waterhuizan, Netherlands, for the Nederlandsche Stoomvaart Maatschappij (Netherlands Steamship Company). This company commissioned DE WADDEN and her two sisters in order to take advantage of the very lucrative trading conditions created by Dutch neutrality in the First World War, and it is vessels like her which provided the foundation for the continuing Dutch strength in the European short-sea trades.
The world-wide shipping slump in the early 1920s forced her sale to Richard Hall of Arklow in the South of Ireland, and it is as an Irish Sea schooner that she is best remembered. From 1922 to 1961, DE WADDEN carried bulk cargoes such as grain, pit-props, china clay, mineral ores, and especially coal from the River Mersey to various Irish ports. Victor Hall, her longest serving Captain, commanded her from 1933 to 1954, and her finest hour was probably during the Second World War when she was one of a small handful of vessels which provided the vital lifeline of supplies to the Irish Republic, after many other ships had been taken up for the British war effort. Her crew consisted of only five men and a boy, and since she could sail, a qualified marine engineer was not required. She carried a motor winch in the forward deckhouse to allow the cargo to be handled without extensive shoreside facilities.
The motor was used almost all the time when she was under sail. This allowed the motor schooner to be built with a flat bottom and shallow draught for maximum cargo capacity together with the ability to enter small harbours. Without the push of the motor, this hull shape does not sail very well. Her original 125 hp 'SteyWal Dutch engine gave her a speed of five knots, but after a major failure was replaced by an 80hp Bolinder engine purchased from the Admiralty. In addition a 50 hp Kelvin engine was fitted on the port quarter to give additional power. These were both removed in January 1942 and replaced with a sic cylinder 150 hp Crossley DR diesel which was only replaced in turn by a 450 hp Caterpillar Diesel in 1980.
This combination of sail and motor remained economical up to the early 1960s when she finally had to retire in favour of a modern motor coaster. She was therefore sold in Dublin to Mr McSweeney who took her to Scotland for a new and varied career. Her tasks ranged from carrying sand to taking out fishing parties, and she even appeared in a number of films, including The Onedin Line for the BBC. She was eventually put up for sale by her last owner, Kenneth Kennedy of Dunoon, and purchased by the Merseyside Maritime Museum in 1984. In 1987 she was drydocked to allow an extensive program of conservation and restoration. In the early 1990s the Museum briefly ran some onboard tours and education sessions, before this was withdrawn to allow further necessary conservation work to take place.
In 2022, options were reviewed for De Wadden's future and in November a declaration of intent to deconstruct was formally published by National Museums Liverpool in conjunction with NHS-UK. For further details visit www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/news/nhs/declaration-int...
Update, May 2023:
National Museums Liverpool’s Board of Trustees has approved the recording and disposal by deconstruction of DE WADDEN. A team is now reviewing the various options to record the vessel, from photogrammetry, to exploring what elements of DE WADDEN might be suitable to retain as part of the Maritime Museum’s collections or for other potential use. National Museums Liverpool is also committed to the recycling of as much of the vessel’s materials as possible. Deconstruction, which will follow a programme set out by National Historic Ships for the responsible disposal of ships, is due to take place towards the end of 2023. The performance model was the Challenger R/T (Road/Track), with a 383 cu in (6.3 L) "Magnum" V8, rated at 335 hp (250 kW); 300 hp (224 kW) for 1971, due to a drop in compression. The standard transmission was a 3-speed manual. Optional R/T engines were the 375 hp (280 kW) 440 cu in (7.2 L) Magnum, the 390 hp (291 kW) 440 cu in (7.2 L) Six-Pack and the 426 cu in (7.0 L) Hemi rated at 425 hp (431 PS; 317 kW) at 5,000 rpm and 490 lb⋅ft (664 N⋅m) of torque at 4,000 rpm. The R/T was available in either the hardtop or convertible. The shaker hood scoop was not available after 1971.
Playing PK and you can add your own portraits so took some shots in Skyrim to use for Wulver, who I am playing in PK as well as Skyrim. The ones I will use are the first two in this set since they match his rogue/mage look best. The others more for wallpapers or when I want a sexier portrait of him in the game (or when he gets wings at level 15).

Such tragic news this morning about the passing of Etva101, one of the most prolific and talented of our flickr friends. To lose two founding members of the Blind Pig Speakeasy group within a month must be truly devastating for Karen and all our members. Etva was an inspiration to everyone who was lucky enough to have her as a contact. Words cannot express our sorrow.....
Well, it's red at least and quite warm. Hope you're all warm where you are. I have to say, it's a challenge keeping warm here with the heating off. It's ridiculous how expensive EVERYTHING is now, and I live in a country producing ALL and more of it's energy in renewables (Scotland). It's at times like this, sitting here without heating, wrapped in many layers that my desire for an independent Scotland grows. Everything done by the UK in the last 12 years has been an unmitigated disaster. Anyway, enjoy the legs, you'll probably not see them until the spring!

Barbara's wonderful group has been hibernating for a couple of weeks but she's invited me to take it on for a while. It is, in my opinion, the best, high quality colour group in FlickrLand so I'd better not screw it up :-) Excellent images with great use of colour and super composition - that's the aim.

First attempt at grafting. There are more "Fails" than "Passes", for sure, but so nice to see a bit of success! The 'passes' are all slip grafts, where both the root (wild) stock is cut at a long angle as is the 'scion' (the desired part). The two are snugly wrapped in parafilm (a waxy tape) and then bound tightly with the blue plastic ribbon. With the 'fails', the two weren't quite lined up right and the wild root stalk is putting up suckers. These will be clipped off except for one -- which will be subject to another effort next February!
The Pink Buckeye here is a hybrid -- all offspring are "throwbacks" - unpredictable, and usually not impressive. The law allows propagation but not for selling. (Aesculus x carnea).
For those who have been paying attention, the GOP panel for both the Senate and House of Representatives drafting the newest abomination of Trumpcare didn't include any women. And so, when you have defunding of Planned Parenthood and clauses about how it an employer doesn't really feel like paying for birth control...well, are we really surprised? Rape and C-section should also not be pre-existing conditions when erectile dysfunction is not.
Some other things that have happened that are really horrific-in Texas, it's legal now for Dr.s to not tell pregnant women when they are going to give birth to a baby with a disability even when it is severe. It's also illegal for anyone to drive a woman to an abortion clinic. The woman also must have a funeral service for the fetus.
In Arkansas and Oklahoma, their state legislature are trying to get bills passed referring to a woman's body as a "host" and that even in the case of a rape, a male must give consent for abortion.
In North Carolina, they just recently ruled that if a woman has given consent for intercourse she cannot withdraw it even when a man become violent during the act. Therefore, if a man appears to be harmless and then starts to literally attack her and she tries to stop him and the act, it will never be considered a rape.
If these things don't alarm you, you either don't care about the rights of women or well, that's about all I've got. I'm personally against abortion but for the right of a woman to choose. These people are so extreme that they want to prohibit it in any circumstance. If a woman is raped, she should absolutely have the right to terminate the pregnancy. If a woman will die or the baby will die or suffer immeasurably, she should also have that option! These are not extreme liberal statements. This is about human rights for women. If a woman is being attacked and says no, it's rape. If a woman has been raped or abused, it should not be a pre-existing condition that would deny her healthcare.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

原点に帰るべき。EVの仕様、給電の問題以前に、『このクルマ、欲しい！』と心躍る原点が必要。
アップルカーの開発が話題になってますが、恐らくiPhoneが発表された時の誰もが欲しくなるEVが発表され、車を再発明するでしょう。楽しみです。

For this picture I was using a "DX"-lens. That means that you get a black circle when you use it with a FX sensor. But in this situation I like this effect, especically together whit this extreme wide-angle.

This shoes arrived last week for my Narae (they are for high heells) from facetsbymarcia.com/ and they are gorgeous! High qualify and beautiful tan color! They fit perfectly for Narae and she stand pretty well in it! So i thing i will order ,ore in different colors!
A new client named Bambi has graced our studio for her first ever full transformation.
She kindly left us her testimony: “At my first visit, I went for the 6-hours girly day experience. Time flew by. After the full make-up and four outfits, three wigs and some makeup corrections, time was sadly almost out. I’ll have to come back soon. Cindy is a very easy and calm person to communicate with. So I quickly felt at ease. Absolutely recommended.”

Storm Chasing Video from afternoon on Flickr Click Here
Late August here in Nebraska. I usually would be chasing out in Western Nebraska Eastern Colorado this time of year. Mother Nature made it dry as a desert here. Record Heat & drought in 2022 on the plains of Nebraska. This was the ONLY storm that came into range for the whole month.
Gear was prepped & ready for a month....I was prepared that afternoon. A short jaunt to my east and then north. Irrigated Corn this time of year here is about 14 feet & it will be ready for harvest soon.
Had to find a good location where there was no tall corn. Found a hill with a perfect view. Lucky to find an open view with all that corn!
Though this didn't produce a tornado. Really good definition of a rotation wall cloud under this supercell. Glad I went out that day to capture these phenomenal snaps!
