Today I read the news that Madeline, one of the cats of my friend Jenn, passed away. She had her for almost twenty years. Such a tragic loss.
Please take a look of her gallery to check for some fantastic photos of her and Madeline and Conor www.flickr.com/photos/kittyslave/

Another upgrade for my UN M113 Familia.
This has been made a plate shorter like all my M113 models. It was not as simple as just taking a few plates off like it may appear. Taking a plate off in height meant i had to totally rebuild the model so figures would still fit but also so the function of the top and bottom sections separating to access figures would still work...it does! Was a pain
The last time this model was in a public photo it had two plate thick extra side armour which i never liked that much but had no choice at the time. With those new angled tiles I've managed to thin them to only a tile on the outside which i really prefer.
Completely new turret, two plates thinner and looks much better.
Added antennas this time too. I also added some differences to the back half of the side armour to to replicate how the real thing looks. I changed the front as well and its connection is different then before.
One last change(that i remember lol) is the drivers hatch is now connected differently on this model and on all my M113 collection. So now it can swivel around for whatever placement wanted and can actually pop over the hatch hole and properly close it up where as before it was purely just for looks.
I have some white neck brackets in the mail finally to replace the light bley on the UN fleet.
Its snowing here in the UK, I still have not bought new lamps to take better photos so this will have to do!

For many years, the Miami-Dade County Courthouse, at an elevation of 360 feet, was reputed to be the tallest building south of Baltimore.
It was the County's first high-rise and is in the National Register of Historic Places. Efforts to refurbish this magnificent structure and restore it to its original grandeur have been underway since 1981 by Architect James W. Piersol, AIA of M.C Harry Associates Architects of Miami.
The restoration and renovations initially stabilized the terra cotta facade and installed new life safety systems. In 1982, the idea of restoring the lobby to its original distinction was the passion of both Architect James Piersol and engineer Don Youatt, of the Miami-Dade Planning and Development Department. With a little less than half of the funding necessary for the lobby restoration project in hand ($300,000 grant approved by the Legislature in 1996), the Dade County Bar Association acted as the fund-raising umbrella and initiate a drive to raise the remainder needed from lawyers and the general public. A few years later, the same team restored Courtroom 6-1, which had been the site of many infamous trials over the years.
Today, the Miami-Dade County Courthouse provides offices, chambers, and courtrooms for the clerks and judiciary assigned to both the Circuit and County Civil Court and the Family Court.
When county government was established following the Civil War, public records were so sparse they could be carried in a carpetbag and most probably were. Therefore, the "courthouse" was wherever the county's chief office holder decided to do business.
In 1890, Dade County's first courthouse stood in the town of Juno, Florida some ten miles north of West Palm Beach. At that time, Dade County covered more territory than it does today, stretching from Bahia Honda Key, in the middle Keys, up to the St. Lucie River, near present-day Port St. Lucie.
Juno was chosen as the "county seat" because of its strategic location at the southern terminus of the Jupiter-Juno railroad. Juno also held the northern terminus of the boat and connecting the stagecoach line to Miami. The courthouse remained in Juno (now no longer in existence) until 1899 when it was moved to Miami down the inland waterway on a barge and was placed on the banks of the Miami River, east of the old Miami Avenue bridge.
The building was two-story wooden frame construction, housing offices and jail cells on the ground floor and a courtroom on the second floor. It has a Neoclassical design, in 1904 this building was replaced by a new courthouse building situated on Flagler Street (then known as Twelfth Street). It was a magnificent building constructed of limestone, having an elegant red-domed top, at the cost of $47,000. It was anticipated that this courthouse would serve the city for at least fifty years; however, no one was prepared for the rapid growth Miami experienced during this period, and by 1924, only twenty years later, there was serious talk of the need for a larger courthouse.
In the early 1920s, architect A. Ten Eyck Brown entered a design competition for Atlanta City Hall, which was rejected. He then made the plans available to Dade County, and City and County officials readily approved them. It was decided by the officials to build the new courthouse at the same location as the existing one on Flagler Street. Construction began in 1925, with workers erecting the new building around the existing structure, which was then dismantled. Community leaders and citizens alike voiced excitement over the new 28 stories "skyscraper" that would soon dominate the skyline.
Unexpectedly, construction was halted when the building reached ten stories. It was discovered that the "high-rise" was sinking into the spongy ground. Engineers consulted with an architect from Mexico City, who had encountered a similar problem while building the city's opera house. The consultant determined that the foundation pilings were not set deep enough. To correct the problem, cement supports were poured, which take up much of the space in the building's basement file room even to this day.
The courthouse was finally completed in 1928 at the cost of $4 million (USD 2013 $54.5 million). Initially, it served as both the Dade County Courthouse and the Miami City Hall. Jail cells occupied the top nine floors because these heights offered "maximum security" and were considered escape-proof. In 1934, a prisoner housed on the twenty-first floor picked the lock of his jail cell window and used a fire hose to lower himself to freedom. In the years following, more than 70 prisoners escaped from this so-called "secure" prison.

As you know for the safety of the general public and on the advice of my Doctor, I normally go out under the cover of darkness for my photography.
However as we have been deluged with the most amount of rain ever recorded here in Cornwall, plus sunsets that have been non existent, I felt drastic action was required.
The camera and myself have been confined to barracks more than we would have liked. We almost contracted cabin fever.
So caution was thrown to the wind and I have ventured out during the day. A long lens was fitted, not for photography purposes, but to enable me to spot men in white coats who would be after me.
So whatever this is I captured from a secluded clifftop, it is certainly something different.
Hope you like.
Have a great weekend, thank you so much for looking at my photos, the comments and banter are much appreciated

A rail train was tied down in Lake siding outside of Hobart on the former PRR Fort Wayne Line. Now operated by Genesee and Wyoming's Chicago Fort Wayne and Eastern, this trackage sees a few trains here and there.
Perhaps with new rail, more traffic is coming.
As a punishment for getting to see me in my undergarments you get to read one of my long meandering posts (or you can stop here). Now I've been surprisingly motivated the last few weeks to dress at home (well I can't do it anywhere else) and did a both last night and Monday. I had a little wobble on Monday where all I could see was male me looking back in the majority of my pics (a bad selfie was the root cause) so therefore wasn't really feeling it last night. However inspired by the wonderful Anna Thorne (search her out on here and follow if you don't already) and her suggestion I record a longer video than the one I did last week, I did just that. I also followed (mostly unsuccessfully) a makeup tutorial for eyeshadow (which is one of my major failings) which I ended up happier with than eye expected (see what I did there).
Anyhoo as a reward for getting this far (you stopped reading earlier then skipped to the bottom didn't you?) I can inform you that I shamelessly ripped off Miss Thorne (in a blatant piece of plagiarism) and used one of our dining chairs to record a video in this very outfit. To which I dare say I'll get around to posting at some point, and from the title of this particular photo you may guess that it's a little bit more risqué than my usual fair. On that note I'll leave you, have a lovely weekend folks 💋

There’s landscape – and then there’s architecture.
When the two come together as strikingly as they do in the chapel by Staab Architekten in Kesselostheim (Bavarian Swabia!), I can’t help but feel the urge to capture it in an image.
Clouds. Vastness. Contrast.
A perfect setting for a black and white interpretation – minimal, crisp, atmospheric. And the best part: despite it being a late Sunday afternoon, I had the whole site to myself. A rare luxury. It gave me the chance to explore the chapel at my own pace and find my personal composition.
It reminded me once again just how much joy black and white photography brings me these days – especially because it doesn’t require shooting in the middle of the night during blue hour. Sometimes, it's enough to just head out in the afternoon, observe, feel, and create.
Oh, and by the way – this was my third chapel out of seven so far. Let’s see what’s still to come...

Jean Jacques lives in a store in Paris and basically lays about in the storefront on a couch that seems fashioned for a cat specifically. I was recently honored to be able to take his portrait while in Paris and bask in his glorious presence. Jean Jacques could very well be the reincarnated feline version of Oscar Wilde, who was also long ago photographed in a reclining and indulgent state. Because we were separated by the storefront glass, I was not able to interview him. However, if I had, here's how it would have gone in my head:
Me: It's really an honor to meet with you Jean Jacques. I know you have many admirers and you need ample time to catch beauty sleep.
Jean Jacques: It is quite an honor for you, yes.
Me: Please tell me, what are some of your favorite things?
Jean Jacques: I am so very handsome and I enjoy being adored by many others. You, for instance, have traveled quite a long distance in order to behold my gorgeous orange fur. I would almost rather enjoy this admiration from guests than sleep. Though, typically when I sleep I dream of all of the people standing in front of my store and being in awe of my beauty.
Me: Can you explain why you have two names when most cats have only one?
Jean Jacques: I know this cat down the street named Jean and he isn't nearly as sophisticated. He doesn't have the fine dapper qualities that I possess. For example, his fur is often scruffy and not well brushed and cleaned. I felt the two names would be more regal and would help distinguish me as being a high quality cat.
Me: That makes sense, Jean Jacques. But what would you say to Parisians who prefer dogs instead of cats?
Jean Jacques: What is this madness you speak of? This is something I simply cannot believe or tolerate!
Me: Very well. Perhaps, they just need to meet you! Tell me, what are some of your favorite foods?
Jean Jacques: I like to start each day with some caviar. My second breakfast is typically salmon. I enjoy a snack of sardines in the afternoon and for dinner, a lobster bisque is suitable.
Me: You seem to be getting your nutritional needs met. If you were not a cat, what do you think you might be instead?
Jean Jacques: Very likely the President of France, though this might unfortunately reduce my lounging around time. I do like the idea of being important on a national level but I seem to already possess this. Perhaps, an ambassador might fit with my social aptitude and my natural likability. Though, it would be a shame to have to be human. I see so many of you suffering out there while I am relaxing happily. It looks rather dreadful, I must say.
Me: Indeed, it is so! Do you ever happen to get lonely and long for a feline companion?
Jean Jacques: There are days when I do feel a hint of loneliness and then I must search for a mirror. There really aren't any suitable companions out there but my own image is quite soothing to me when I feel the need for a friend.
Me: Are there any other cats you look up to?
Jean Jacques: Though his existence was before my time, I enjoy hearing about Behemoth.
Me: I didn't realize you could read!
Jean Jacques: Of course I can read! I am a highly civilized being. I can even understand up to ten different languages when the words are compliments towards myself.
Me: Do you ever feel like venturing away from the store and exploring more of the world?
Jean Jacques: That sounds rather exhausting. I'm quite comfortable in my home here. I have my own couch and those who gather to be in awe of my presence. I would hate to miss a nap or meal just to travel.
Me: Thanks for spending the time to talk to me. One last question: Do you have any regrets?
Jean Jacques: I regret nothing.
(Jean-Jacques: Je ne regrette rien.)

Well, the weather forecast for Kananaskis for yesterday, 24 September 2019, was not exactly accurate - sun, with cloud in the afternoon. They kind of forgot to mention the strong wind, light rain .... and SNOW! For a few minutes, it was one kind of weather, then a few more minutes of a different kind, repeated throughout the afternoon.
Our temperatures are falling - forecast for rain tomorrow, rain and snow the next day, then two days of snow with temps down to 0C and -1C. What a way to celebrate the first few days of fall. The expected snow will probably remove quite a few of the golden leaves, so I wanted anther chance to see and photograph them while I had the chance.
The sky was blue when I set out yesterday morning and I felt quite hopeful. When I go to Kananaskis, I always go south from the city. I had no idea where I would be going, but I knew that it wouldn't be as far as I would have liked. As it turned out, I had a few surprises along the way, so it was a real mixed day of photo opportunities - my favourite kind of day.
After stopping to take a few scenic shots on the way to the main highway through Kananaskis, I eventually reached the area where the American Pikas live. I really lucked out almost straight away, as the only few photos I took were when one Pika showed itself, and that was within maybe ten minutes. By this time, the wind was strong and it was snowing, and it was cold! Time to get out of there, as the scree slope is treacherous enough on a calm, clear day.
Driving further north, I was delighted to see a convoy of maybe a dozen beautiful old cars heading in my direction. Couldn't resist, so I followed them when they turned off into a small picnic area. I asked if I could take a few quick photos and they were happy enough for me to do that. One car owner did comment about blurry photos because of the falling snow, but surprisingly my photos came out sharp enough.
Further on, I made a quick stop at another pull-off and was happy to notice a few mushrooms. When I turned around to head for home, I was even happier. I pulled over to take a photo of one of the mountain peaks. One tiny white speck in the distance, just off the road, caught my eye. When I went to check it out, I found myself staring at a little group of Shaggy Mane/Ink Cap mushrooms. The largest one had already started the process of curling up the rim of its cap and dripping a black ink. So much rain this year has resulted in such an amazing fungi season.
Much closer to home, I decided to take a side road that has such beautiful hill and mountain views. An old wooden barn was a welcome surprise - I don't remember seeing this one before.
So, a lovely day out, driving 320 km, with such a mixture of weather and sightings. So glad I did decide to go - as usual, a very last minute decision, but basically, I just need to grab my cameras and go : )
Cause a little sister will visit soon!

Taken way back when we lived in Étampes. We had hills there too, but not quite as many as there are here - and I'm sure they weren't as steep!
These houses were halfway up to the plateau and all built upwards, as you can tell from the front steps.
Not sure I'd want to take the shopping up those every week. Plus we'd get ice and snow there too!!
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)
For those of you that don't know. The Goldcrest is the smallest bird in the UK. Even smaller than the Wren. They're fairly difficult to photograph as they flit around a lot.
Thank You...
...for being there for me
through good and bad.
...for giving me
what i never had.
...for caring for me
like no ones done before.
..for calming me down
after a long day was spent.
...for making me smile
when i didnt think i could.
...for hugging me and holding my hand
reassuring me you love me even more.
but most of all thank you..
for loving me and letting me love you in return.
and showing me the brighter side of life.

The ones I will use are the first two in this set since they match his rogue/mage look best. The others more for wallpapers or when I want a sexier portrait of him in the game (or when he gets wings at level 15).
Such tragic news this morning about the passing of Etva101, one of the most prolific and talented of our flickr friends.
