April fools on the CEO!

Good Morning! 629 of your photos are in Explore. Here is Page 1 of 72.

I always forget to stay off the Internet on April 1. It's like some darned fool turns the information swimming pool upside-down and then tells you to "Swim!" You just stand there, sort of dumb founded, while your feet get wet. It takes all but one second while your brain processes this information..."Is this for real?"

I wanted to do an abstract that at first glace would almost seem like a seascape. This painting is done is acrylics and is heavily textured using paint and glitter that i painted over.

I havent measure it yet.

First card in my personal muse tarot deck. The fool is innocent and child-like and does not always see the dangers that lurk. But the fool also has the faith to follow their own path - no matter where it might lead.

Every man has a fool in his sleeve.

The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold, is an iron sulfide with the formula FeS2. This mineral's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. The color has also led to the nicknames brass, brazzle, and Brazil, primarily used to refer to pyrite found in coal.[5][6]

Pyrite is the most common of the sulfide minerals. The name pyrite is derived from the Greek πυρίτης (puritēs), "of fire" or "in fire",[7] in turn from πύρ (pur), "fire".[8] In ancient Roman times, this name was applied to several types of stone that would create sparks when struck against steel; Pliny the Elder described one of them as being brassy, almost certainly a reference to what we now call pyrite.[9] By Georgius Agricola's time, the term had become a generic term for all of the sulfide minerals.[10]

Pyrite is usually found associated with other sulfides or oxides in quartz veins, sedimentary rock, and metamorphic rock, as well as in coal beds and as a replacement mineral in fossils. Despite being nicknamed fool's gold, pyrite is sometimes found in association with small quantities of gold. Gold and arsenic occur as a coupled substitution in the pyrite structure. In the Carlin–type gold deposits, arsenian pyrite contains up to 0.37 wt% gold.

Ispent the afternoon walking around Glasgow with my brother today. A wee leisurely walk, talk and take some foties.

I saw this bit of graffiti on a closed-up shop window. It's not often I snap stuff like this, but I liked the style and the various tags surrounding the main graphic.

The only down side to the day was finding that after updating my iPhone to IOS 6 I had lost all my music, or rather the music was there, but iTunes couldn't find it. I found that shouting at the phone, "IT'S THERE YA STUPID PHONE" didn't help and I had to rebuild the library. Isn't technology crap. Not a bad day overall.

This year's April Fools Day menu included Spaghetti, which was only off-white yarn placed in a casserole dish (fooled my 11-year-old!); Sticks, which were corn dogs; Chips & Dip, which was carrot slices & veggie dip; Sliced Potatoes (potato chips); Fruit Juice (sliced fruit piled into our green pitcher so the contents couldn't be seen. I told the family, if you want juice, you have to squeeze your own ;o) ); and for dessert, Dog Food, which was Pops cereal and dog bone-shaped peanut butter cookies placed in a clean new dog dish.

Mary Magdalene

Hispano-Filipino

c. 1750-1815

Solid ivory image surrounded by a silver radiance known as a “Rafaga”.

Height of Ivory: 9 in; 13.5 in to top of crown; 17 in to top of radiance.

Overall Height w/ Base: 19.5”h.

This imposing figure is supposedly an ivory carving of the image of Mary Magdalene. But this is an intentional deception in that in this iconography, she is presented as if she were the Virgin Mary. She wears a silver crown. And her entire body is surrounded by a nimbus of light known as the “Rafaga”. At first blush, one is lead to believe that this is an image of the Virgin. And since the Rafaga is traditionally associated only with images of Christ or the Virgin, the addition of this feature was an intentional act to deceive.

According to the auction catalog, this image was formerly in the collection of a Connecticut gentleman and his wife who lived in Columbia for over a decade. This object was purchased from a friend who told him that the image was found in Cali and is reputed to have arrived at Buenaventura, Columbia from Acapulco sometime between 1665-1815.

However, a closer examination of the figure reveals the truth. This is not an image of the Virgin nor any of the Catholic saints. This is a standing image of the goddess Guan-Yin. On her right hand, she holds a rosary-like chaplet of beads but those are just Buddhist prayers beads and have no Catholic symbolism. On her left hand she is supposed to hold the “Holy Grail”. In actuality, she holds a Ruyi scepter, a ceremonial talisman in Chinese Buddhism symbolizing power and good fortune in Chinese folklore.

The dates provided are also irrelevant and misleading. The years between 1665 and 1815 span the entire period of the Manila Galleon trade. Anything and everything arrived in the New World from the East at this time! In other words, they are meaningless.

Although attributed to the Hispano-Filipino workshops, the carving style of the image is not consistent with Philippine carving of images of the Virgin or other female saints. The image wears a long robe which falls in lanky horizontal folds ending at the hem. Her toes do not peep through. She wears no mantle. The edges of the tunic are decorated with geometric designs unknown in Philippine iconography. The carving of the hair is wrong for this attribution. The eponymous “suksuk” or tuck is missing. And her lips are not painted with the trademark orange-red hue of Philippine made saints.

It’s amazing what a little bit of silver can do to fool the eye.

This is the frontside of Castle Heeswijk. The Castle is already mentioned in documents of the 12the century. The exact place where the castle is situated is 'Heeswijck-Dinther', a small village to the south of ''s Hertogenbosch'. (Southern area of The Netherlands).

This picture is taken in IR. I've added the moon and the birds but hasn't changed anything to the castle building itself.

Tarot card #0 (The Fool) of the Major Arcana.

A card of alternate realities. As he walks off the edge, is it a leap of faith or just obliviousness? Is the dog's harrying behavior a distraction or a warning? He has everything (symbols of all four suites) he needs to accomplish anything, but do all the choices keep him from mastering anything?

Fools Dance

Ft. Belknap, Montana 1899

Photo taken by my 3rd great Uncle

Several of the photographs included in this album should be considered rare. These include the image of the Fool's Society (a men's society) Dance in which members speak backwards in imitation of Inktomi the trickster, and butcher a cow or bison, then spray blood or bits of meat on the audience.

Ehahah the story behind this "magic" spray is that 2 of my friends ordered it online from the US...it's supposed to "foooool" fish...owwwww...ehaha...well not the fish here in Dubai ehaha...anyways you spray it on the bait that you have & the bait is supposed to glow in the water to attract fish...cool idea, but didn't work @ all that day ehaha...

The whole world a dot beneath a question mark.

Painting is far easier than photographing paintings.

the Fool represents a time of newness, a time when life has been "re-started" as it were. In addition, they likely have no idea where they're going or what they're going to do. But that doesn't matter. For the Fool, the most important thing is to just go out and enjoy the world. To see what there is to see and delight in all of it.

Unfortunately, in this childlike state the person is likely to be overly optimistic or naive.
