Apples help displaced enterprise and employees prosper together in Ukraine. Sady Donbasu was the largest apple producer in Donetsk oblast until its processing facility was destroyed by military actions in 2014. After moving from the contact line, the company reclaimed its role as a leading apple producer and a socially responsible enterprise: 90 percent of its employees are internally displaced people from Donetsk. Sady Donbasu co-invested with USAID Agriculture and Rural Development Support (ARDS) project implemented by Chemonics International in processing and storage equipment, which enables the business to maintain good quality, comply with packaging standards, and increase sales.
