For my 100 Flowers Project - 2025

You may remember I posted a couple of images of this Century Plant in bud back in December. I noticed this morning that some of the clusters have flowered. So of course I had to include it in my 100 Project - it will be a long time before it flowers again.

These flowers are from a potted plant I had last summer. I named her Ruby-Anne. (Yes, I name my plants. Artists are allowed to be a bit crazy.)

Two years ago I took cuttings from my succulent plants. Both varieties are doing well but I just love how beautifully the Christmas cacti have flowered.

I took these on one of my frequent visits to East Perth (an inner city suburb of Perth). I visit a friend in the area and then walk into the city taking photos as I go. In this instance I was carrying a Canon G9X compact camera which can fit in the palm of your hand. Ive always been impressed with how good the photos are with this camera. In this instance I ducked into a laneway and took this image. It is a shame that someone has tagged over the top of the art.

Coreopsis grandiflora (large-flowered tickseed) in my backyard. This plant was very accommodating. It gave me many pictures that I was happy with.

I'm going to the Country, Tomorrow, in a small village, for 3 days.

A very beautiful and relatively large alpine flower.

Loves moist, chalky soils, and heights.

Endemic to Europe, Asia and North-Africa. Mainly in mountain areas, and on the tundra as well.

In Germany the plant is on the red list of endangered species. Strongly protected.

On the Jägerkamp, at 1.700 m altitude. Near Spitzingsee, Germany.

I believe this interesting wildflower is a Yellow-Flowered Lupine, found in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I'm not sure, though, so alternative identification opinions would be welcomed!

Photographed in the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge in western Wisconsin.

Sweet and lovely, small-flowered columbine (Aqilegia brevistyla) are blooming in the woods, mostly in popple groves and fairly open areas. They naturalize easily in my gardens, from seeds harvested in the wild.

Tiny flowers, perhaps 2.5 cm, one inch across.

Farthest north columbine species on the planet, in my part of Alaska as well as parts of north and western Canada.

Finding orchids often involves a lot of detective work and in this case, a series of clues led me to a particular roadside verge where this scarce Helleborine could be seen. Most had already gone over but after walking for 2 miles or more, I eventually found this one perfect specimen just feet from where I'd parked.
