This is dedicated to photophool (George), without whose CCRRFD (flash diffuser made out of styrofoam cereal bowls) these photos could not have been made, and for his inspiration with these shots:: anther and stigma. These are my first photos with my new Raynox DCR-250 super macro lens. As you see, I've got a lot to learn.

Sometimes I have to persuade myself that the failures are fine. I'd been thinking about this shot as soon as the poppies opened in the garden and finally found time to set it up. I'd planned a 'botanical poster' but my trusty old 24-105mm is slipping when held vertically. I'd 'fixed" it with an elastic band but argh! Zoomed in, the focus isn't great. It looks OK on my laptop, but I'll try it again ... perhaps, next summer.

I wasn't going to take pictures, I have too much to do, but when I went out to take something to the trash, it had just finished raining, and the sunlight was shining just right on the water droplets on my hibiscus, and I thought, well...

The Strongylodon macrobotrys, also known as the jade vine, emerald vine, or turquoise jade vine, is a leguminous vine that is native to the Philippines. It is a well-liked ornamental plant recognized for its hanging clusters of vibrant turquoise or greenish-blue claw-shaped flowers. Growing jade vine requires a tropical environment, which makes it a popular choice in botanical gardens and conservatories. The plant's remarkable appearance and limited distribution add to its appeal among plant enthusiasts around the world.
