Lalah snuck into my apartment while I was out of town last week and planted a bunch of flowers in the flowerbox. They are really enjoying their view from the front porch.

Flower boxes in the front of Samaritan House, summer 1990. Included are lobelia, heliotrope, salvia, impatiens, and geranium. I grew all of them from seed started in my nifty little basement "greenhouse." Or greenroom, I should say. Green Bay, Wisconsin. Taken with a Yashica FX-7.
Next, I attached the front plank to the box. Of course the front plank I selected the prettiest of the planks I got.
The 2019 public art project entries were unveiled last Saturday. They are benches with attached flower boxes built by the Veterans Outreach group and decorated by local artists. The theme is "Racine's Past, Present and Future".
This one is entitled "RACINE: ART-chitecturally Strong!", by Brenda J. Lois.

I could have gone cheap and went for pine.. but, I love the colour of cedar. And their price is only double that of pine.. Ha ha ha.
Here we have a plank of cedar that's particular knotty.
Dinner last night at French Meadow was excellent. I had the tempeh cutlet with orange vinagrette and Margaret had some sweet potato thingy with tofu alfredo sauce. Very nice.
When I was in San Francisco I visited the piers. It was a gorgeous day and all the flowers were really facing the sun. I glanced over and saw these two posters on the side of one of the gift shops. In front was a flower box with the flowers you see here. What struck me is the absolute brilliant color of the flowers against the natural black and white of the two posters. No photo shop needed!!! hahaaaa
“The cactus thrives in the desert while the fern thrives in the wetland.
The fool will try to plant them in the same flowerbox.
The florist will sigh and add a wall divider and proper soil to both sides.
The grandparent will move the flowerbox halfway out of the sun.
The child will turn it around properly so that the fern is in the shade, and not the cactus.
The moral of the story?
Kids are smart.”

Waiting for the afternoon ferry to Santorini. As usual, the ferry arrived 10-15 mins late. This left some time for some quick shots around the port as long as one didn't wander too far.
The boats in the port also confirmed that Amorgos is popular with the French and Italians. A number of French yachts were docked here.
RIVERWALK:
The Chicago Riverwalk is an open, pedestrian waterfront promenade located on the banks of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago. It spans from Lake Shore Drive to Franklin Street - and meanders past 10 of the Chicago River's 29 moveable bridges.
Plans to develop the banks of the Chicago River into a public walkway were already created at the beginning of the 20th century but they only started to materialize almost 100 years later - with construction beginning in 2001.
As of 2012, plans are in progress to turn an underused stretch of the river from State Street to Lake Street into a bustling recreation spot. The ambitious plan should ultimately result in almost 28 miles (45km) of waterfront promenades.
