Didakites 4m Flowform. The kite proved to be rather unstable on 1st flight. I'm in the process of applying the Becot modifications. This photo was taken to examine the imapct of the outer keel cut outs before stitching in the mesh. It seems to be an odd variation of the 'classic' flowform idea. As I return to photographing the South Bay salt ponds, one of my priorities is documenting the progress of the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project. This involves revisiting areas that I photographed as much as 15 years earlier and seeing what aspects of the landscape have changed. It also involves visiting areas that are slated to change with the goal of taking baseline photographs for subsequent comparisons. Images in this set fall into that latter category as I try to gather baseline imagery for the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve Phase 2 Project.
This set includes images taken as I walked the perimeter of Salt Pond CP3C. This pond is located just north of the Alameda Creek Flood Control Channel and just east of Turk Island, the northernmost manifestation of the Coyote Hills range. The images were taken on a pleasant Sunday afternoon with thin, high clouds and a steady sea breeze of about 9 mph. The Sutton Flowform 30 worked well in lifting the camera cradle.
I am taking these documentary photographs under a Special Use Permit from the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. Kite flying is prohibited over Eden Landing as is access to this part of the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve without a Special Use Permit.

Maiden flight.
It started drizzling but I couldn't resist a test flight. Approx 10mph wind speed, no problems at all.
I had some trouble with the rip-stop stretching unevenly, This has resulted in one side being slightly longer than the other. When it dries out I will investigate.
