The next amazing laser installation by Jo Fairfax and Graham Callister. The installation is based in the grounds of Boughton House, Geddington, and is due to go live at the end of January.

Linear corrleation between Aortic blood velocity (ABV) and Aortic blood flow (ABF), calculated from ABV and aortic diameter (AoD). Data was obtained simulstaneoulsy using an esophageal echo-doppler (Hemosonic 100, Arrow Intl).
I used a little script (thanks OriginLab support!) to calculated aortic blood flow (ABF) from the data obtained from esophageal doppler, assuming that ABF = ABV * ((AoD^2*п)/4).
Small disparities during high aortic blood flow between ABV and ABF could make ABV to be misinterpreted as a surrogate index of SV in some circunstances.

Blockships sunk during the first world war to close off eastern approaches to the Scapa Flow anchorage.
However on 14th October 1939, A German u-boat, U-47, entered the anchorage under the cover of darkness at high tide & managed to navigate it’s way around the block ships and enter Scapa Flow via Holm Sound. From this point she launched a devastating torpedo attack on the Royal Navy battleship HMS Royal Oak which sank in 13 minutes killing 833 men and boys.
