Ribwort plantain or Narrowleaf plantain has been counted as one of the nine sacred herbs in Celtic medicine since the 11th century. Its plant sap has healing, antibacterial and antipruritic ability.
Autumn, also known as Fall in American English and Canadian English, is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere). Autumn is the season when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the striking change in colour for the leaves of deciduous trees as they prepare to shed.

A beautiful Begonia, from a hanging pot on our porch. Photo taken for the macro group "Looking close... on Friday!"
Thank you, in advance, for any likes and comments. I appreciate them all and I am thankful for your support.
Peace and light!
Roses seem to be a recurrent theme in my flower photographs, which is a little strange as we don’t grow many of them. Most of my shots, like this one, are taken on the fly when visiting other gardens.
I’m always rather fascinated by the centres of roses - the stamens nestle in the middle of the lush petals reminding me of dancers in some strange rite. This rose had an interesting colour contrast, and the light seemed to glow in the middle with the yellows.
I'm not sure that I am totally happy with the processing but it may just be me feeling a bit tired on a Friday...
Anyway, a quick effort for Looking close… on Friday today because I found the theme of Flora Selective Focus totally irresistible! Wobbly images will need to wait :)
Happy weekend folks!
Thanks for bothering to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Looking close on … Friday :)

It's the first year I've had Cosmos in my garden and I've loved them. When they first came out these flowers were a dark wine colour, but as they've aged they've gradually evolved into this lovely pink. I used a manual focus Pentacon lens for this shot (hence the bubbly bokeh), so I'm amazed anything is actually in focus. :)
