Autumn, also known as Fall in American English and Canadian English, is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere). Autumn is the season when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the striking change in colour for the leaves of deciduous trees as they prepare to shed.

For the Looking close on Friday group theme ;Flora selective Focus'. Have a great day and weekend folks ;o)
The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 23rd of September is “flora selective focus”. When the theme was announced, I was delighted, as finally, after a grey and what feels very long winter, spring is finally starting to burst forth where I live. The gardens are beginning to deck themselves in white and pink blossoms. It's a beautiful time of year to go for a neighbourhood stroll to admire the beauty. I had been out late in the afternoon on a sunny, early spring day after the theme was announced and chanced upon this prunus tree with some pretty pink blossom whilst on my walk. I hope you like my choice for the theme, and that it makes you smile.

Looking Close on Friday: "Flora Selective Focus" theme
Flickr friends, I just got a new computer...the old one finally bit the dust...and I am having some issues with my photo processing software, so my participation here might be spotty for a while.

For "Looking Close...on Friday!"'s #flora selective focus theme
The title reflects the changing weather conditions here in the south of the UK; autumn is definitely here now... But also, the toning of the image. My only criticism of cosmos is that they pretty much only come in shades of pink. (Although I think there are a couple of purples, and maybe even a chocolate?) It's generally a lovely shade of pink. But I had it in my head that I wanted this image to be blue. Well, in the end I couldn't bring myself to go totally blue, so compromised with blue toning.
Selectively focused to create a relatively narrow field of focus from left to right across the centre of the flower. Well, that was the intention at the time...
Happiness held is the seed;
Happiness shared is the flower.

Flora is all the plant life present in a particular region or time, generally the naturally occurring (indigenous) native plants.

Short and hairy bee on the purple coneflower. I made this for Looking close…on Friday! Today’s theme is Flora selective focus. I titled it with a different (my own) spelling, Abee Normal. I was jokingly making a reference to Young Frankenstein. Marty picked the wrong brain , hence Abnormal. He pronounced it Abby Normal. If you’re a fan of the genius Gene Wilder you have to see the hilarious film.
'Sunny Sky' rose, just planted this Summer is doing so well!
