A small group of people arrived carrying a rainbow float raft - it's part of a "follow the float" campaign that will donate money to GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). June is Pride Month and the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and New York is the host city for World Pride.
Picturesque floating houses at Fisherman's Wharf, Victoria, BC, Canada.
Just around the corner from Victoria’s Inner Harbour, Fisherman’s Wharf is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. This unique marine destination offers food kiosks, unique shops and eco-tour adventures amongst fishing vessels, pleasure boats with live-aboard residents, float homes, and commercial businesses.
The eastern end of Fisherman’s Wharf is populated largely by float homes. The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority has set aside 33 berths designated for floating residences.
Wow, we're really fast in the water, making in bow wave!

Playing around with the Schwimmwagen in my favourite little creek in the woods. Of course this doesn't float a bit, it's set on a stone and the bow wave is the current of the running water.

Always photographically interesting stuff on the quayside, floats and nets...
Small floats were usually made of cork, but fishermen in places where cork was not available used other materials, like birch bark in Finland and Russia, as well as the pneumatophores of Sonneratia caseolaris in Southeast Asia.
These materials have now largely been replaced by plastic foam.
Glass floats were large glass balls for long oceanic nets, now substituted by hard plastic.
They are used not only to keep fishing nets afloat, but also for drop-line and longline fishing. Often larger floats have marker flags for easier spotting.
These looked to me like the sweets on a bracelet or necklace??? LOL

Enoshima - (江の島) a small offshore island, about 4 km in circumference, at the mouth of the Katase River, which flows into the Sagami Bay of Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Administratively, Enoshima is part of the mainland city of Fujisawa, and is linked to the eponymous Katase section of that city by a 600-metre-long (2,000 ft) bridge.
Enoshima is famous of its shrine culture. Generally regarded as the holy place for Benten, one of the seven Japanese Gods of Good Fortune. This God, Benten, is the only female among them. She is considered to be the main deity to go to for artists and entertainers. So people who want to improve their artistic skills believe in her. On the other hand, there is a famous love story that takes place between a five-headed dragon and Benten. So, you will see many dragons adorning the shrine’s premises.
