“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time”
- John Lubbock (English Biologist and Politician)

Tofino is a small district on Vancouver Island, off Canada's west coast. It sprawls on a peninsula within Clayoquot Sound, characterized by wild natural scenery including lakes, inlets and ancient rainforest.
Sandy beaches with year-round surfing facilities include Cox Bay, Chesterman Beach and popular Long Beach, part of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The relaxed town of Tofino sits on the peninsula's tip.
Tofino is a district of about 1,876 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4, on the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, at the southern edge of Clayoquot Sound.
A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino's population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, bird watchers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, although many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water.
Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, with its natural hot springs, is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Tofino, a popular day-trip destination for tourists only reachable by boat or float plane.
A shot that I'd completely forgotten about and found when looking to pull together some panos I took on a holiday back in 2019.

My soul is full of longing for the secret of the sea, and the heart of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me.

So this was my first attempt at doing a photo like this. I have always wanted to try this, but never did so I figured I might as well give it a shot. I'm pretty happy with the outcome, but I know I can eventually do something like this even better with more practice. I hope you enjoy it!

Will you float or will you sink?
Will you descend and greedily drink?
The waters that flow all around
What treasures below will be found
When you descend and do drink
The waters as you slowly sink
It’s been raining in Melbourne, and raining quite a bit. The result is a rather brown and murky looking Kororoit Creek. On my last visit, the water was surprisingly clear, and gave some great colour. Not this time - and the colour version looks rather strange. But a great opportunity to have a play without colour, especially with such fluid and dynamic clouds.

A couple of floats with some random flotsam, and the inevitable gull reflecting in Irvine harbour in beautiful crisp, calm weather last Sunday afternoon.
