Did you know that hairy things grow on the petals of lilies? I did not. I always thought that they were just textures on the petals, but it seems that they are like pores on the human skin.

The joy of macro photography is similar to that of super telephoto range—it allows me to see things beyond which my eyes can normally reach.

I photograph this for its almost abstract formation through the bokeh. As magnification goes up, the landscape starts to shift. I can see why some photographers on Flickr are fixated on the craft of macro, as there lies pure beauty surrounding us waiting to be explored—when we are willing.

11/05/2014 marks one thousand days of my membership of the Flickr community. I haven't uploaded many images of late, I have been rather short of energy what with work and commuting. Although I haven't commented much recently, I have been viewing and "faving". I must add that the changes to Flickr hasn't helped with my lack of enthusiasm either! Here's a summary:

Bit of a milestone today 100,000 views I know it`s not in the same league as some on here but i`m proud of it :D 23rd January 2012

This was well over a foot in diameter, maybe even 18".

It was, in a word, HOOOGE.

Photos shot on the old (1970s vintage) manual Nikkormat SLR camera, digitized to PictureCD when developed back in 2002. Not very high resolution scans, but then not always very high quality photos in the first place. Oh well.

Last year I attended the Beijing Olympics. My photos from the event attracted a massive spike in my Flickr stats. It seems that I'm now getting a lot of people viewing the images again due to this years world athletic championships in Berlin.

I was looking at the stats for my account, someone does a search for 'stealing from an abandoned house' Why it was linked to my photostream is because I have pictures of abandoned homes, some of which people stole from. But I just like how someone is searching for 'steal from an abandoned house' that is the first time I have ever gotten something like this on flickr.

Any idea what this says in English?

This didn't come out quite the way I hoped, but isn't bad, I guess. Well, not terrible anyway.

Basically, like a lot of medieval cities, the core of the old city was ringed with fortifications. Because there's a bridge flowing through town that goes out to the lake (Lake Lucerne, or Vierwaldstattersee, or however you translate "Lake of the Four Forest Cantons" into French & Italian), there were covered & fortified bridges as part of this wall, then as the wall ran up onto the hills to the north & south of the town, there were defending towers on the ridges looking down on the city and out to the surrounding countryside.

Anyway, this was taken from a modern footbridge near the old walls, trying to look up at one of the old wall towers at night. But I couldn't hold steady enough and the camera shake is distracting. Oh well.
