Photos shot on the old (1970s vintage) manual Nikkormat SLR camera, digitized to PictureCD when developed back in 2002. Not very high resolution scans, but then not always very high quality photos in the first place. Oh well.
This street doesn't seem to have cable.
Can't decide if I prefer the wider version or the tighter version of this one.
The lighting is better on the tighter one, but the wider one looks a little more chaotic.

We'd seen this piece a couple of months earlier at the ICA in Boston, and I've since seen photos of it or ones like it at other places around the world (San Francisco, Tokyo, Bilbao, Ottawa, et al).
I'm almost tempted to seek out or create a pool of photos of this thing. Pictures of a roaming 20 foot high menacing black spider would be a heck of a lot more interesting that photos of yet another garden gnome statue doing a world tour.
Compare & contrast: early bunks, with dividers and some meagre individual space, and
late bunks, where the dividers are gone, no one has personal space, and people were packed in three times as tight.
So, apparently the way to have a ridiculously huge surge in views is to (1) take photos of mostly-nude body-painted bicyclists, (2) make sure they're tagged "Fremont Solstice Parade", and (3) get them posted later that same day, when people have started searching Flickr for photos from the parade. That last step is the one I'm not sure I've done before, I think the past two times my photos went up at least a day or two later. Who knows how many views I'd have had if I'd also tagged the bicyclist ones with "nude" or "naked". As I'm not actually fishing for views, I guess I'll never find out.
116 views on 29 May was the previous 30-day high. It barely registers as a bump now. Actually, 18 Jun was my new 30-day high, with 134 views; I thought that that would be due to people already searching for Solstice Parade photos and finding my previous ones, but it looks like most of the views that day were of my Decibel Festival photos. In any case, that new high of 134 views would not have been unusual.
With Go Play NW 2011 less than a month away, I should be able to compare the surges for the two events as I've done in the past, but this time I'm not expecting anything close to comparable.
Remember that Doctor Who episode where the army of mannequins are chasing around Rose & The Doctor?
They may have filmed it at the once & future Express store at the Burlington Mall.

Never before Crazy! 1,511,819 by 9 PM tonight Lake Shawnee pushed my stats way over a Million today May 17, 2014 Never had that many!!

The total views on my photostream reached 6,000,000+ after 7 years (to the month) hard work and midnight oil burnt on April 22nd 2014.

While I've tended to steer my photostream and descriptions in the last few years towards an encyclopaedic tone with referrals from the major internet search engines my main objective, the continuing support and comments from my contacts and other Flickr members is very much appreciated and makes all the hard work over the last 7 years very much worthwhile.
A special mention and thanks too for my friend, colleague, fellow railway enthusiast and photostream contributor David whose 2173 donated items so far on this date have made a huge difference to my photostream, stats and interest generated.
6,000,000 views ÷ 8527 items = 703.64 views average per item.

I don't understand it... this photo has almost 3,000 views, only two comments (including mine), no faves and is only in one group (Utata) Yet in only a few weeks has become my 10th most viewed photo... and for whatever reason, flickrstats can't identify the source of the traffic.
Hypothesis: glancing at these make me think that views, faves, comments, etc, appear to follow power law distribution. Until there's an api for FlickrStats, however, I don't plan on manually entering numbers... :)
Juni Ng, actress + singer extraordinaire who recently graduated from School of Drama at Columbia University, happened to be at my place yesterday and I decided to play with her hair and my new flash techniques.
