From 15th to 18th June 2018 there was a huge increase in visitation to my flickr site, without a corresponding increase in number of favourites or comments. Most of the views seem to be coming from within Flickr. Checked the help forum to see if its just a Flickr glitch but so far not reported. Wondered if anyone else has had an unusual increase in visitation over this period.
** The trend has continued, today June 19th saw 20, 499 views, so appears to be leveling off. Lets see what tomorrow brings.
I just checked the Help forum and staff have conceded a problem with double counting stats does exist.
32 minutes ago they posted a response to say the problem is fixed.
Turns out a lot of this stuff is just as funny in a photo as it is if you spent the $2.99 to take it home.
Obviously, in reality the bridge roadway was well above my eye level, and so with a real fisheye lens would have curved down at the ends.
But I liked how it threw everything else off to force that line to be roughly straight, and all the other lines had to bend or break.
Yes, I know there is photomontage software out there that can do this kind of thing semi-automatically, and can try to even out the seams between images.
But I don't want it to look "real" that way. If I did, I'd get a real fisheye lens.
(Actually, those are pretty good. Note to self, get a real fisheye lens.)
No, the point is, sometimes I like the sloppy montage effect.
For a subject that has been photographed a million times, seeing it a new way can be fun.
We ended up coming back here for dinner later. It wasn't bad -- less touristy than I was expecting (from the front I thought it was a takeout fast food thing, but it's a proper sit-down restaurant & bar).
I never noticed this before in the Stats, but on mine you can really tell how views sag over the weekends and then greatly pick up on Mondays.
The map tag on this is a total guess, but probably not anywhere close to right -- I didn't actually take the photo, my fiance (now-wife) did after I had left to go back to Boston.
From context, it seems like a river passing through Richmond, but doesn't seem to be near downtown, so I'm kind of arbitrarilly pinning it to the map on a stretch of the James River on a park west of downtown Richmond. If by chance you happen to recognize this part of the river, please feel free to let me know and I can correct the map. Thanks.

The Yahoo map denotes this as if it were a "road", which 200 years ago, I suppose it was -- this was the path that the British army marched down during the battle of Lexington & Concord in 1775.
Today, it's a quiet little sandy path through woods, with walkers & bike riders walking up & down it, but certainly no large vehicle traffic, whether modern cars or old horse & buggy affairs.

From the Museum of Bad Art, in the basement of the otherwise lovely Somerville Theatre. The Museum, of course, has its online collection of bad art, but I figure bad photos of the bad art can only be a positive contribution to the cause.

Famous for its gnomon, which was incorrectly identified as a marker of the prime meridien in Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code".
Not quite sure what it is, but I've always thought this building is fantastic. These pictures don't really give the full sense of it, either -- it just goes on & on for hundreds of feet like this, all gleaming dark glass & stately red brick. I've always wondered if it's as nice inside.

Photos shot on the old (1970s vintage) manual Nikkormat SLR camera, digitized to PictureCD when developed back in 2002. Not very high resolution scans, but then not always very high quality photos in the first place. Oh well.
This street doesn't seem to have cable.
Can't decide if I prefer the wider version or the tighter version of this one.
The lighting is better on the tighter one, but the wider one looks a little more chaotic.
