The Flickr Lounge-A Sign Of The Times.
This Boat Shop is a repair shop for large boats. People also store their boats here over the winter. This is the first time this year I've seen boats sitting out front of the shop. I suspect they will be checked and tuned up for the up-coming boating season.
This week in 1998, space shuttle Discovery and STS-91 launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center on the ninth and final Shuttle-Mir docking mission. I always wanted to do a kind of 4 season shot from this point but I also always kinda forget about it ... I hope with this project I'll get at least 4 good ones from my favorite tree.

In a few hours time I hope to be standing on this beach on the south coast of England if SAS and Norwegian airlines manage to coordinate their flights! I am away to England for a week, followed by a few days in Oslo so I will be back in about 10 days. See you all then!

Sorry not to be posting recently, but I have been coding up a Flickr photo mining tool I hope you will like. There's lots to do yet, but I think it's ready for a beta test:
What can you do right now?
Search and display photos, with thumbnails up to 250x250, by Tags, Text, Username, Recentness, or Explore.
Retrieve up to 500 results at a time - little or no paging, as long as your computer can deal with it and flickr doesn't revoke my API keys.
Todo list:
a) No authentication yet, so this will only find public photos. DONE
b) No searching of contacts or favorites yet. COMPLETE
c) I want to add a license filter you can retrieve only photos that offer certain license terms.COMPLETE
d) It will be easy to add intelligent reading of date formats people type in, but that's not there yet... COMPLETE

A black day for flickr and for photographers around the world
I understand that the bosses at flickr have decided to force everyone down the route of the "new photo experience" with its ugly sidebar. This in my view seriously compromises the ability of flickr to host serious photography.
I have not yet decided whether I will stay or give up on flickr entirely. But I will certainly join with others in trying to make my voice heard. The new flickr sidebar is a disaster, and I am amazed that it is to be foisted on so many loyal customers who are so passionately opposed to it.
I hope that as many people as possible will join in the 'black day' protest tomorrow, 8th December 2013. Try a search for "flickr black day".
a poorly exposed photo from my last summer vacation. but when i tried to fix it in PS, with some bump in curves & levels, it appeared to have a pink and blue color in it...=)

So this is the first of my 11 year old son picture I upload to flickr. He told me yesterday he wants his own account, i told him he had to wait until he is 13 years old. He also told me he likes photography a lot and that it could be his main hobby.
So come on people, show my kid some Flickr love.
