The #FlickrFriday #WhenTheWindBlows challenge

When the wind blows, clouds scud across the sky

A 60 second exposure, achieved in daylight by using a neutral density filter, blurred the clouds. The photo was desaturated, sepia toned and had grain added to suggest age.

Melting butter can be quickly done in a microwave though it can easily lead to splattering. When you're going to bake in the same pan, then melting the butter in the pan greases it at the same time.

So, it's a throwaway shot from my iPhone because: I've just finished reading the wonderful Skyfaring by Mark Vanhoenacker and it's such a beautifully written book all about his love of flying 747s and his being a passenger looking out of the window, also, I noticed the Flickr Friday theme just before we set off from Pisa today, my camera was buried in the overhead lockers and finally, no-one else appears to have posted one of these for the theme yet so I thought I'd get in there first.

It is always good to have a spare key , if I only could remember where the locks are....

Life was simpler, you spun the bottle, giggled and kissed the person the bottle pointed to.

Repurposing a plastic food tray may not be the most optimal way to store tools, but it still works in a pinch.

The #FlickrFriday #IStayHome challenge

British emergency coronavirus lockdown law requires people to stay at home except when they don't have to. Directions published by Her Majesty's Government were hurriedly transformed into law by Parliament. Well, kind of. To the confusion of all, not least the police who have to enforce it, the new law does not entirely match the directions The Government initially published and still refers to.

Anyway, as both directions and law allow people to take exercise away from the home (once a day if we follow the former, or as many times as we like if we follow the latter!), this is me tuning up the front derailleur of my trusty bike. It's a job which the good book describes as simple and says takes 10 minutes but as it takes me half a day, it's a task I'm not fond of. As well as providing exercise the bike takes me to work. I'm one of those people still required to turn out of bed at stupid-o'clock and put in a shift, so the wheels must work too.

The camera was manually focused, f16 selected to provide depth of focus, plugged into an attachment telling it to photograph me every 20 seconds, and left on a tripod to its own devices. After that it was simply a matter of selecting a photo which makes this face for radio look vaguely presentable and competent, and preferably without including a photobombing chicken; one of my dear wife's little hobbies.

The selected photo was turned to monochrome to remove distracting colours, with colour channels tweaked in Photoshop. A sepia tone, some grain and a vignette were added.

Stay safe folks!

#FlickrFriday is Light As A Feather Not too much is as light as a feather, and I didn't want to go to the other extreme and doing something really 'heavy', either.

Smoke is pretty light, as we all know. This is a composite of 11 images, each tweaked in Lightroom 5 for the color I wanted, and then layered in Photoshop.

Tell me what you think! I'm new to working in Photoshop, so if it's not good, let me know. If you like it, let me know, too.

STROBIST information:

Shot with a single YN560II at about horizontal with the smoke, 105mm zoom through an Opteka 1/8" grid. Strobe on 1/8th power, and 30 inches.

Fujifilm camera combined with Minolta lens using K&F lens mount adaptor; along with a few 3rd-party accessories (hand grip, shutter button, strap attachments).
