Mama is that you? In here!! These barn swallow fledglings were patiently waiting for their meal deliveries. They were behind a thick cover of willow shrubs so I had to be patient myself finding a window to shoot through. I didn’t get to see an actual feeding but I was as hopeful as this youngster briefly!
We saw him tonight while looking for another flegling that never came out of the nest. This one hopped out on the spruce branches and listened closely to rapid fire shutters. I think he will be taking his first flight in the next couple of days. Thanks to Hawkeye Harley
for this one!
This is another in my series showing newly fledged Ospreys learning skills for hunting by doing and experimenting. I did not see a repeat of this particular bad idea. The youngster did not injury itself, fortunately. I have seen young Cooper's having trouble with these fences too.

There were two Carolina Wren babies out my front window today. A nice treat, though they were both really happy when I went back in the house.

A couple of firsts for me recently...
I decided, for the first time, to pay a visit to a well known spot in the Yorkshire Dales in the hope of seeing Peregrine Falcons.
Arriving at sunrise (mainly to beat the heat) I initially watched them high in the sky looking like tiny black dots. After 4 hours this fledgling eventually decided to perch in a tree on the cliff edge. I had to crawl along the edge to get to a decent distance (I'm not one for heights!) and was amazed just to witness it.
The background is the cliffs by the Pacific Ocean.
