Mercury was essential in milling gold ore, but was difficult to transport and dangerous to handle. It doesn't react with iron, so flasks made of iron were used to contain 76 pounds of mercury. A docent at Laws railroad museum let me take this out of a locked cabinet to move it outside for a photo.

stainless steel tig welded together and inflated using an air compressor. finished using wax and a torch.engraved with a drawing using nitric acid
well used one flash with a bounce card with some linen rapped around it, placed in-front down low. big sheet of white paper in a u shape surrounding flask. did not have any jells so went out to the shed and got the big red funnel and shot the second flash through it aimed behind hand held.

I liked the shadow and shape of this powder flask from India. According to the info posted next to it at the Cincinnati Art Museum, its from the 17th century.
