A little fun play with an LED flashlight and image stacking to create light and shadow reminiscent of Chiaroscuro.

Rayograph style cyanotype inverted. White paper becomes deep black.

The little UV flashlight I've been using for the rayographs.

M3 flashlight. It's built more for handguns, but there's nothing wrong with putting it on a rifle.

This is one of twin mausoleums in Metairie cemetery. Tomb appears to be two stacks of four vaults high, with an open space in center with a stained glass window in the rear noted "In Memorium"

Night, near full moon, 240 second exposure, protomachines flashlight set to white to light the stained glass.

single exposure of around 5 minutes

My old friend and light painting buddy Bill visited me lately.

I like the outcome very much, but still, the smoke on the side of the locomotive is nearly invisible and the blue light rays are really weak, it simply looks like a blue overexposed area at the boiler.

so lesson of the day: smoke pellets are fun, but their use in light painting can be challenging from time to time and from location to location.

Combined flashlight and hair brush. Very useful :-)

I told Skye to write her name with the flashlight. Her instructions were to use the entire frame, do it in only two seconds, and not to move her whole body.

"Skye" isn't exactly legible. However, considering she only had a couple practice tries I think she did rather well. She told me after we took the shot that she used "cursive" so it would be faster.

The ISO was ramped up to 800 so I wouldn't have to use a flash and a 2 second shutter. Handheld!

Staying put today so I opted for my Flashlights tunic dress. Comfy and casual.

Interior detail of a piece of glass I made a few years ago. Lit from beneath by one LED flashlight. 4 shots, focus stacked in PS6.

A flashlight to hold for scary stories, or just if it's dark out.

Three different types included:

Up on your shoulder - watching out in front of you if it's dark outside.

Down by your side - If you're more cool about the dark but still want to see what's there.

Super-Scary Story Teller - holds up in front of your face, Click to animate some scary monster hands!

Light turns on and off, and is made to work with SL's lighting model!

as seen on my old profile...

The yellowish part is illuminated because Ranger Angela (or somebody) was shining a flashlight on it.

"Crystal Ice Cave contains some of the most spectacular ice formations among Lava Beds’ many caves. Because of the sensitive nature of this cave's formations and air flow, it is open to park visitors on small ranger-guided tours only during winter months."

This is from the Lava Beds National Monument's spiel. They limits access to the cave to six people per week and only during the Winter. More people than that entering the cave will raise the temperature and melt the ice. I will be posting some really cool photos of this cave this week so stay tuned.
