Following a thunderstorm and torrential rain, flash flooding around Poole this afternoon.

A clearer picture of Christo's The Flash from the Lego Super Heroes videogame. This is an excellent minifig...probably the best one he has made so far in my opinion, along with Cad Bane in second place.

The flash bulb for use in photography , with a clew of wire made of an Aluminum/Magnesium alloy was developed by Philips (the Netherlands) in the 1930s . In the picture a bulb is mounted in a Kodak Brownie Flasholder , from the 1940s .

Green flashes and green rays are optical phenomena that sometimes occur right after sunset or right before sunrise. When the conditions are right, a green spot is visible above the upper rim of the disk of the sun. The green appearance usually lasts for no more than a second or two. Rarely, the green flash can resemble a green ray shooting up from the sunset (or sunrise) point. Green flashes occur because the atmosphere can cause the light from the sun to separate out into different colors. Green flashes are a group of phenomena which stem from slightly different causes, and therefore some types of green flashes are more common than others.[1]

While observing at the Vatican Observatory in 1960 D.K.J. O'Connell produced the first color photographs of a green flash at sunset

So, they say that as the sun takes its last drop into the sea there

is a "Green Flash" at the very last moment. I've never actually seen it, but I've heard from others that 'they' have. So I decided to take a shot just as it dipped below the surface, just to see if my camera would pick up anything. Well, I do see a slight touch of green; it really wasn't very big, or bright, or flashy...but I'm going to count it! LOL Thanks for looking.

The green flash is an optical phenomenon that you can see shortly after sunset or before sunrise. It happens when the sun is almost entirely below the horizon, with the barest edge of the sun – the upper edge – still visible. For a second or two, that upper rim of the sun will appear green in color. It’s a brief flash of the color green – the legendary green flash. It’s really quite exciting to see, especially if you’ve been looking for one. Get out there & look for one yourself!

Testing the flash guns before the village pantomime (defiantly green spots before the eyes -- I wonder why they are green?)

The Hemyock village pantomime is an amateur production, with the main theme being fun. This year it "Sleeping Beauty" and even the first night (Wednesday 21st October) is a "sell out".

Ok, here is: My DIY ring flash.

Salad Bowl, cut a hole in the middle, placed a pineapple tin can, made another square hole for the flash on the side. Made a bracket out of alumium and shaped it in the way shown above. Flash is a Canon 580ex, triggered by a cable.

The diffuser is a piece of plastic folder I had with documents :-)

The tin of pineapple has a piece of aluminium foil around it so it reflects more light. I love the lighting effect this flash produces. I will upload photos soon (When I find my model)

While I don't know how long the nuface lunch has been happening at the cons it definitely has garnered a reputation for having incredible dolls and I wanted to make a go for it this year.

Having good fortune in managing entry this time guessing on who we would find inside became my icebreaker question. Unlike the twins last year & Agnes and Rayna the year before their sycronicity ended up coming more down to color choices alone - Giselle had me wondering if they were fully going to reference the Wild at Heart set with the giveaway matching - but I think they compliment each other nicely while still standing alone as individuals.

Even better Giselle and Karolin are both girls I didn't own until now which means I only need a Colette, Violaine, Annik, Takeo, Imogen and a set of the twins ro manage one each of every character on their roster 😉

The 4th 'Flash' livery for Plymouth is the Green Flash, which operates on route 5/5A between St Budeaux-Elburton/ Staddiscombe.

It has to be said I prefer the application of the livery on the single deck Enviro 200s compared to these E400s, rather too much of the turquoise bands on these for my liking. Having said that it's a nice green and makes the fleet look more interesting.

"Green flash" is a real optical phenomenon caused by diffraction and scattering of electromagnetic waves of the visible light spectrum (rainbow) during the sunsets and sunrises.

The green color, corresponding to waves of medium wavelength, flashing at that moment. The other red, blue, violet with wavelengths longer and shorter wave colors present become nullified and we only the characteristic green color is present.

endlich doch mal wieder ein Gewitter ..... !!!! und 15 l/m² Regen --- wurde auch höchste Zeit!

So I ended up making a new Rogueverse Flash today, since the design I had used previously I'm using for my EWSG Flash series. Anyways, here's his backstory!

Backstory: The Roman based deity Mercury, became bored living amongst his family. So he would decide that he would come to Earth, and start a life for himself there. As he needed a name for himself so he could blend in with society, he began calling himself Max Mercury. At first, he would use his extraordinary speed to play tricks on people. But he would later find love in Laura Claiborne. Because he abandoned his duties for Olympus, his immortality was taken from him by Zeus himself. Laura would later give birth to a girl, which they named Helen. Mercury realized that his powers of speed were meant to be used for greater things. He became the world's first scarlet speedster, as the Flash! His costume consisted of a metal hat, with lightning bolts on the side, and winged tips on his boots, much like how he looks in mythology, along with a red jacket, that has a yellow lightning bolt down the middle. As he grew old with Laura, Mercury decided he would give his powers of speed to one that was a worthy champion of justice. He would find this in Barry Allen, a CSI that works for the Central City Police Department, whose father murdered his mother at an early age. Mercury would tell Barry about his new found powers, and would teach him how to use it. On his deathbed, Mercury told Barry to never let the legacy of the Flash die out. Barry Allen, as the Flash, would end up facing many dangers in the years to come. Many villains, gifted by the powers of the gods of Olympus, would come after Barry, and the ones he cares for. He would generate a new costume, that was way different than Mercury's original costume.

[Explored Jan 12, 2013 #208] Thank you!

Going thru my stuff from last year.i have a few of this swan, thought I'd throw it up cos I'm taking pure shite shots lately.

I must clarify how i took this because in the past people have doubted it's authenticity.I had the camera set up just for the sunset when this swan came over cos they are used to people feding them bread.Anyway, after many attemp[ts to get low and get his silhouette agaisnt the setting sun,i simply popped up the on board flash and started shooting.i thought it would freak him pout but he stayed and i eventually got this and a couple of other ok ones.he did try and bite me in the face at one stage though, they seem farther away when you are on your belly looking thru a wide angle :- )
