The dam makes the water temperature below it pretty constant year round. This seems to make bugs pretty happy ... and what makes bugs happy makes the fish feasting on them even happier. This place is really the Disneyland of fishing. You just have to look down and see dozens of trouts roaming around.

Laguna Colorada is a salt lake located in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve on the Bolivian altiplano in the department of Potosí.
Located at an altitude of 4,278 m. The red coloring of its waters is due to red sediments and the pigments of certain types of algae that live there. The lake, the mountains and the fauna allow a rich variety of photographic compositions
I think this is Sheep Creek Bay. The lake may be manmade.

The Flaming Mounains are a famous landmark in China, featured in the novel “Journey to the West”. One of the local tourist traps is an underground ‘museum’ full of statues and relief carvings, many from a popular TV series. The centerpiece of the museum is the giant thermometer, which tells you how hot it is. Konrad and I eventually decided that the termperature shown must be based on the temperature of a thermocouple on top of the pole, exposed to the sun. It was hot, but only 47°, not 80°!
