As of last september, St. Sulpice was still under construction. This was the church in Da Vinci Code, and now that I think of it, I believe it was under construction when they filmed the movie, but I don't remember seeing a shot if the facade in the film so maybe they just convieniently avoided it.
I'm quite sure this will be the only "fake tilt-shift" image I ever post. It's fun, but not really my style of processing. I did this one for the current Theme Competition.
This was taken from Montparnasse, and oh man do I wish I had had a better zoom because the view is INCREDIBLE from up there on a clear day. Much much more interesting than from the Eiffel Tower...

I don't know if many other people are experiencing this, but both my Anna and Elsa dolls came out of the box with really, really bent legs. I've had this trouble before, so I've developed a way of fixing them: if you're not sure how to do it, then here's how.
1) Press the legs into the straight position you want. You then need to use colourless elastic bands to keep them 'splinted' into position. (It's very important to use colourless elastic bands, as otherwise the colour may transfer to the legs themselves. I used the bands that kept these particular dolls in the box, but I've used clear loom band-type ones before.)
2) Once your legs are splinted, you need to stand the doll in a reasonably sturdy glass or jar, then pour boiling water over the legs, to about an inch below the hip joint (mid thigh, basically). Keep them there for about five minutes, then take the doll out carefully and hold the legs in cold water to 'set' the new leg position. Dry off your doll.
3) Take your elastic bands off, and voilà! There you have it: nice straight legs. (You do get a slight dent in the vinyl where the bands lie on the legs, but frankly, I can deal with them when compared to the bandiness of the legs the way they were to start with.)

I went to my local park in hopes of getting a 'clicker fix' so when I spotted this young Gallinule posing I clicked away...:)
Thank you for your visit and comments.
New and old on the fringes of Lewisham walking to St Johns, South East London. The hi rise behind this row of shops is better than the ones around the station that has become a 'mini Hong Kong' such has been the rate of progress of vertical accommodation. It's the shadows now though isn't it. Everything is in shadow and the sun doesn't get a look in at ground level anymore.
Parker's Laundry Basket
He was a charming, loyal type of man.
He was exceptionally good with his hands, and the townspeople knew.
He could fix almost anything, and this is why he was the property manager of a small motel. His closest friend was the owner , who had an eccentric little hobby. It was his job to make sure the motel was spotless, especially when his friend was finished. He is just about to finish up cleaning up and get ready for the next project....

Found this in the shed at the house we are refurbishing - think this needs a little refurb too. I have left it outside on a bird table, so far the birds have given it a wide birth.

The key light is behind the bar: an AD200 with the curly tube, inside a 24" pop-up softbox with a fabric grid attached to control the spill. In the back/left I have a bare V860-II with a full cut of CTO gel to give an edge on Matt's left side. Finally, I have a Lencarta Safari II with a half cut of CTO gel, inside a Lencarta collapsible beauty dish with the front diffusion on and a fabric grid. This is lighting the background just enough to give a hint of the industrial features and in this old building. Shutter speed is slow enough to register the light from the chandeliers but not so slow that the scene is unduly lit by this flat light.
I've pumped a bit of fog into the room to simulate the smokey atmosphere of a 1920's bar.
Finally, on the camera, is a Lee Soft-1 filter to give a bit of flare and bloom to the highlights.
This is my young cousin. As Independence day (14 August) was nearing, he accidentally got one of the lights disconnected from the wiring so he decided to fix it himself. I found the perfect opportunity to take his picture while the sunlight fell on him. The lights didn't worked but he helped my brother in placing a flag over our rooftop. Children are such blessings of Allah.

Watching the delicate wisps of smoke coming from a single source of burning fuel can keep me mesmerized for hours. Like clouds in the sky, I often can see some form of a subject within the smoke. Using two off-camera strobe lights helps me to capture those smoke strand images in order to share them. Here I see a mother figure fixing the top on her child's stroller. What do you see?

On a river cruise up the Tigre River Delta near Buenos Aires, we passed this old relic resting permanently against the river bank. In decay it had a certain charm of it's own, like an old weathered building in a ghost town.
When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse.
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
"Just what you worth"
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
Tears stream, down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face and I...
Tears stream, down on your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face and I...
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you.
