ODC - Horizontal

Found this in the shed at the house we are refurbishing - think this needs a little refurb too. I have left it outside on a bird table, so far the birds have given it a wide birth.

Literally!

This was a hard theme for me. As some of you know I am very passionate about toys. It was very hard to figure out what to shoot for this week challenge and narrow down my choices. I end up doing the 2 things I like: a. Shooting woody and trying an unique approach! Did I succeed? You’ll be the judge.

Macro Monday project – 03/012/12

"Toys"

If you have a problem, they'll fix it.

"When you try your best, but you don't succeed

When you get what you want, but not what you need

When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep

Stuck in reverse..."

Rain overflowing the gutter. Serious thunderstorm.

...before the plane crash in it...

On a river cruise up the Tigre River Delta near Buenos Aires, we passed this old relic resting permanently against the river bank. In decay it had a certain charm of it's own, like an old weathered building in a ghost town.

When you try your best but you don't succeed

When you get what you want but not what you need

When you feel so tired but you can't sleep

Stuck in reverse.

And the tears come streaming down your face

When you lose something you can't replace

When you love someone but it goes to waste

Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home

And ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below

When you're too in love to let it go

But if you never try you'll never know

"Just what you worth"

Lights will guide you home

And ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you

Tears stream, down on your face

When you lose something you cannot replace

Tears stream down your face and I...

Tears stream, down on your face

I promise you I will learn from my mistakes

Tears stream down your face and I...

Lights will guide you home

And ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you.

The windows on unused barns are often the first thing that gets broken, either through neglect or vandalism by visiting city cousins. Decisions to keep up with repairs on an aging barn are often made by default. Usefulness, even with our own bodies, many times dictates what gets repaired or ignored.

If you still think large European rivers are natural, well, think again... most of them have been essentially turned into canals. You regularly see this kind of barge keeping them orderly and well mannered, usually with an excavator armed with a shovel or some branch cutting contraption...

This was made with my first roll on a recently acquired Seagull 203. I got it off eBay for less than about 15 Euros, its nondescript condition probably scared of the competition. The poor thing was indeed in a sorry state. Shutter terminally stuck, everything covered in a sticky grime, rangefinder completely off... but hey, how often do you find a coupled MF rangefinder for cheap? I thought I had fixed it until I realized at the end of the roll that I am missing the button to pull out the peg that holds the exposed film spool. And it needs to be attached with a nonstandard screw somewhere between M2 and M3. Still figuring out how to fix that. It's a decent folder, the possibility of choosing between 6x6 and 645 is a nice plus, the Chinese characters on it look real neat (my Chinese colleagues tell me they literally stand for "Sea" and "Gull"), but it's nowhere close to the feeling of quality the Perkeo oozes. The viewfinder's framing is rather approximative, and the way the way the shutter button gets blocked as soon as you move the rewind lever ever so slightly is rather annoying. Bottom line? I'm quite happy I got it.

Seagull 203, Ilford FP4 Plus developped in Rodinal 1+100 for over an hour at warm room temperature (forgot about that, it was actually stand developped!) and digitalized using kit zoom and extension tubes.

Abandoned House

Yes, this is my shoulder. It is the result of an operation I had done six years ago to repair my shattered clavicle. 6 titanium screws and a titanium plate hold it all together.

It's good as new now :)

This is my edit of vjune's image posted in the "Fix My Pic" group.

A new roof is all this charming fixer upper needs to be good as new. Well, OK, that and maybe some new siding. Umm, yes and maybe some new windows. Probably a new floor. Maybe some paint? :-) Seen in Orange County Virginia USA (isn't it amazing how the chimneys are still standing upright?)

Abandoned house. Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Iceland.

Motet II

Le regard fixe, impénétrable

de la Mort, le masque sans

contours, un jour, nous lui ferons

face, un jour, il nous désignera.

Ce sera une voix

un désir fatigué

un cri, une couleur :

on ne sait jamais.

Ce sera la peine d’un enfant

ou le murmure d’un fantôme

et soudain les yeux

brûlés par sa présence

interdite, nous reconnaîtrons

son appel entre tous.

My first figure upload in 10 months, I'm back with my 5th version of Delta Squad. Starting us off is Fixer, the tech expert and squad second-in-command.

The decals are 100% designed and applied by me. CloneArmyCustoms manufactured the helmet, backpack, and carbine. They are some fantastic pieces.

I changed decal paper brands, got a much higher quality printer, and now use laser printed decals. All of this allowed me to make a much higher quality product.

This is a brand-new template, one that went through several trial runs (including three versions of Delta that I never posted, hence this being the 5th version). Decals cover every surface of the figure. The arm design covers almost the entire area of the arm, and what wasn't covered (the edges of the shoulder) I painted black. All torso and leg designs wrap around to all four sides of the piece smoothly. There is even a decal on the top of the torso (though I didn't snag a picture). The helmet and backpack templates are also vastly improved. My leg template was heavily inspired by AndrewVxtc, though I did make some different design and aesthetic choices, and I designed it all myself. Shoutout to Andrew, thanks for the inspiration!

I drybrushed black acyrillic paint over the entire figure to give it a really nice weathered look. The chips in the paint were designed in the decals, however. It turned out really nice and adds a lot to the figure. Though it's hard to see, I also drybrushed the DC-17 with a gunmetal color.

One of the things I love most about this figure are all the little details I was able to fit in. For starters, Fixer has his two-toned design, and I tried to make it as subtle as I could while still making it visible. He has his pauldron-type-thing on his right shoulder, something very few customizers add.

Shoutout to my friend Aidan for helping me with the photography!

View on all sizes to get a better look. C&C appreciated.
