also known as Mt. Fishtail. A unique and magnificent peak in western Nepal. it's name is originated from the fact that the peak looks like the tail of a fish. this view was seen throughout our trekking route to Ghandruk.

The deviant mystery of the mountains attracts me a lot, who wants to be my companion on the way to this bliss of solitude? :)

Machhapuchhare (6993m), also known as Fishtail, is quite well known in the Annapurna range in Nepal. When the setting sun casts its golden light onto its face, it is really a beautiful sight!

As near as I can determine the mountains in the background L to R may be Burnt Mountain, Bare Mountain, Butcher Mountain and Crow Mountain as these are the 4 main mountains able to be viewed south from the Fishtail, Montana area.

Any correction welcomed.

The shot was taken somewhere along Grove Creek Road on the way to the Tippet Rise Art Centre in the Stillwater River Valley near Fishtail, Montana, USA. I was unable to accurately geolocate it on Flickr Maps.

This shot was taken in 2018 on a trip through western USA.

The next set of shots I'll post will focus on the Beartooth and Chief Joseph Byway, two of the USA's most scenic and high altitude highways. Both highways are notable for their preponderance of hairpin bends, or as they are called in the USA, switchbacks.

I've been away from posting to Flickr for a month while travelling in South Australia and then through the Southern Highlands and Central Western NSW during Easter but as from 14th April 2021 I'm back on deck.

Himalaya with white mountain Fishtail (Machapuchare) surrounded by clouds

Morning glory by looking out of my window in Ghandruk, Nepal. Machapuchare (also known as Mt. Fishtail), 6.997m, right ahead in the early morning light. A memorable scene.

Machapuchare (Fishtail) in the Annapurna Range is off-limits to climbers and has never been summited. At 6,993 m (22,943 ft), it is not the tallest mountain in the range, but it is surely the most spectacular. As we hike into the Annapurna Valley, the split 'fishtail' of the peak becomes visible.

i didn't do either of these. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Fishtail Mountain is so beautiful words fail me when I saw it nearly every morning from the various guesthouses I stayed in during my trek of the Annapurna region. Sometimes.I felt I could almost touch it!!!

Fishtail peak, also known as Matterhorn of Himalayas. It has never been climbed to summit, due to local belief that it is sacred mountain.

Mt. Fishtail (Mt. Machhapuchchhre in Nepali with 6,993 meters elevation) as seen from Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (3,720 meters elevation), Annapurna Conservation Area, Nepal at the time of sunset.

I've just spent the last 2 and a half weeks trekking around Nepal. It was my first time in this incredible country, and ended up being a life changing experience. The people, mountains, landscapes, atmosphere all touched my heart, and i'll never forget this trip.

This is Machapuchare, commonly known as Fishtail due to it's distinctive twisted summit, as viewed from Tadapani as the sun set, casting a lovely warm glow over the mountain and valley. The clouds rolled in quickly and this view was gone 5 minutes later. A stunning place to watch the world go by.

Fishtail Lagoon, near Lymington, Hampshire. In the Uk these birds are called Grey Phalarope as we only see them in winter plumage, but elsewhere they are called Red Phalaropes for their bright summer plumage.
