On friday night the big thing to do is go to the fish fry in Oistins. It's basically a whole bunch of shacks selling fish, as well as a sort of street festival. Music, dancing, drinks. Alot of the Bajans go there, so the makeup is maybe 20% tourist and 80% locals.

BFD Fish Fry at Bristol Legion Post 143 on Fri. May 12, 2017.
The Friday Fish Fry at the Bristol American Legion In Bristol, Indiana was a benefit run by the Bristol FIre Department with Fish or Shrimp Dinner that included fries, cole slaw and a roll with butter. This is always a popular event, and from the 4:30pm start of the event, there was a line waiting to place their orders. As the evening went on until 7:30pm serving time, the hall was continually packed with those who love a good fish dinner! Throughout the year, the Bristol American Legion Post 143 holds various events that include delicious food at very reasonable prices. Such as BBQ ribs on the first Saturday night of the month; Steak fry on the second Saturday night of the month, Tacos on the 3rd Saturday night of the month, and Chicken on the last Saturday night of the month. Dinners served from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Watch for all the exciting events coming up in 2017. All of the Legion segments, including Legion, the Sons of the American Legion, Bristol American Legion Riders and Ladies' Auxiliary participate.
Five Mackerel's for 80 bucks is a steal , while making fish isnt 'that much of an art' buying fish is surely is , and its not just about knowing which is the freshest fish of the lot , but also how much its worth & how well you can negotiate with the fisherwoman. Applied very basic masala on this - lasun paste (they sell packeted ones in dept stores) haldi , mirchi , dhanejire, salt, and most importantly kokam , let is set for an hour, the fish were got cut & cleaned, even got the vertical slices into the flesh done by the fisherwoman , masala should go in well , I personally feel baangda doesnt really have much of a taste on its own , so the more the masala seeps in the better taste it lends to the flesh.

I have decided to do a second Flickr "100 Strangers" set. Not only because of the opportunity to better my portrait photography but also just because of the incredible journey!! My first 100 was such a blessing to me personally that I truly wanted to try it again!!!!
So meet Strangers #1/100 of my 2nd "100 Strangers" project. On the left is Kenneth, assisting in the St. Theresa's Annual Lent Fish Fry and in the green shirt is Gary, the champion award winning fish fry cook at St. Theresa's. Last year the team took the Houston Galveston Archdiocese KC Fish Fry Cookoff 1st place trophy. The fish fry is held from 5-730pm every Friday during lent at St. Theresa's Catholic Church adjacent to Memorial Park in Houston, TX. The charge for a plate of fish with all the trimmings plus a glass of tea is $10.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. The fish was especially tasty as was the hushpuppies but so were the sides of cole slaw, fries, and green beans. You even have your choice of a lovely homemade dessert as the perfect ending to your meal. Gary, thank you for being so concerned as to how we enjoyed our fish and going out of your way to make our meal so enjoyable.
So congratulations to Kenneth, Gary, Allie, and the others that worked so hard preparing the delicious fish fry... we enjoyed every bite of it... thank you!!!
And thanks so much for agreeing to be one of my "100 Strangers" on Flickr.
