The Commerson's frogfish has a specialized spine it can use as a "fishing rod". At the end of this rod is a fuzzy tuft called an esca, which acts as a lure. The frogfish dangles the esca in front of its huge mouth. When a small fish comes to investigate the lure, the frogfish quickly opens its mouth, creating a vacuum that sucks the fish in to be eaten. Usually, the apparatus is laid back against the head and is barely visible. This is my first shot of a frogfish with the "rod & lure" extended.

i'm upgrading to a 45 gallon tank for them... there was a problem when i bought the tank at petsmart and it didn't have all the pieces, so it's on order and i should be able to get it and set it up next week, hopefully.

Don't know the english name for this fish but maybe it's parrot fish ...

It was smiling at me :)

This beautiful fish swam straight towards me

I loved taking these and I was amazed at some of the results. Some areas were too dark, no flash was allowed and the lens I had on just wasn’t fast enough resulting in fishy blurs.

Getty Editor, if you look at the one I submitted ... there are a few more in the stream for you to take a peek at if you want to :D hint, hint!

Anisotremus virginicus, the porkfish, is a species of grunt native to the western Atlantic Ocean from Florida to Brazil and the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

This nocturnal species inhabits areas of reef or with rocky substrates at depths of from 6.6 to 65.6 ft. It can reach a length of 16.0 in. though most do not exceed 9.8 in.

It is of minor importance as a commercial food fish and is also popular as a game fish though it is reported to sometimes contain the ciguatera toxin. It is also a popular fish in public aquariums.

Here is a picture of a fish SubhanAllah

It was almost impossible to take pictures in the tube through the Oregon coast aquarium. ISO 1600, f/1.8, 1/30th of a second, manual focus lens and fish that wouldn't hold still. It was beautiful in there though.

Haha fish tank get it… yeah. This was mostly just learning how to poly paint and get it out of zbrush.

I am not sure if this is one of them, but we learned that many species of rock cod can take up to 25 years to get about 12-18" long. They don't have young until they are 25 years old and they can live to be over 200 years old. Makes sense why we have to look after the cod fishery.

We spent a day snorkelling on the Great Barrier reef, where I tried using a cheap waterproof camera, it turned out it wasn’t waterproof.

The quality of the pictures was quite poor unless you got very close to the subject and I also found using the screen to frame the photo very difficult and often lost the fish before getting a shot.

In the end I only got a few pictures and most are not very good, but at least it is a reminder of a great day on the reef.
