Der nach der benachbarten Stadt Ilulissat (dän. Jakobshavn) benannte Eisfjord (grönl.: Kangia) liegt 250 Kilometer nördlich des Polarkreises an der grönländischen Westküste. Er erstreckt sich über 40 Kilometer Länge und ist sieben Kilometer breit. Der dominierende Gletscher Sermeq Kujalleq ist einer der aktivsten Gletscher der Erde. Seine Fließgeschwindigkeit beträgt rund 20 Meter pro Tag.
Von stammte wohl auch der Eisberg der 1912 die RMS Titanic versenkte !

Small city in Greenland with 4500 inhabitants at the Ilulissat Icefjord (Kangia) - 250 km north of the Polar circle on the Greenland West coast.
Venetian rowing (ital. “voga alla veneta”) on Lake Garda is represented mainly and historically from bisse, typical fishing boats, handed down in ancient tradition, their origins dating back to the Repubblica Veneta. The bisse from that era were a direct derivaton of the venetian bissone.
The structure of the craft has remained substantially the same over the course of time. The boat with a flat bottom to meet minor resistance from the water carries four rowers who remain standing, in the venetian manor, with a technique aimed to amalgamate timing, balance and rythmn of the movements, being at the same time light but powerful.

Venezianisch gerudert (ital. “voga alla veneta”) wird am Gardasee in erster Linie auf den sogenannten “Bisse”. Es handelt sich hierbei um traditionelle Fischerboote, deren Entstehung auf die Zeit der Venezianischen Republik zurückzuführen ist. Die „Bisse“ entstammen dem antiken „Bissone Veneziano“.
Die Struktur dieser Boote ist im Laufe der Zeit grundsätzlich dieselbe geblieben: Der Rumpf verfügt über einen flachen Boden, um die Wasserresistenz möglichst gering zu halten und auf dem Boot finden 4 Ruderer Platz zum Stehen, so wie es sich für den venezianischen Stil gehört. Die Technik zielt auf die Vereinigung von Synchronität, Gleichgewicht und leichte aber dennoch kräftige Ruderbewegungen.

Die Boote liegen auf dem Trockenen - Orkantief "Sebastian" hat das Ostseewasser weggepustet.
The big sailing boats are all on tour with tourists - the little one's remain for private guests and work as fisher boats.
Often I accompanied fishermen early in the morning and saw their fishing results.

Die großen Segelboote sind mit Touristen unterwegs.
Die kleinen dienen für Privatfahrten und als Fischerboote.
Oft begleitete ich Fischer früh am Morgen und begutachtete ihre Fangergebnisse.
Im Bild ein Idyll an einem Altwasser des Mains ganz in der Nähe des bekannten Weinorts Randersacker. Die Fischerboote werden noch zum Fischfang genutzt. Am Tag der Aufnahme waren an dieser schönen Stelle ziemlich viele Wanderer und Radfahrer unterwegs. Im Vordergrund das rapsähnliche, im 18./19. Jahrhundert eingeschleppte Orientalische Zackenschötchen (Bunias orientalis), das sich in Europa vielerorts sehr stark ausbreitet und das in vielen Gebieten mechanisch bekämpft wird.
In the picture, an idyll at the river Main very close to the well-known wine-growing village of Randersacker. The fishing boats are still used for fishing. On the day the picture was taken, there were quite a few hikers and cyclists at this beautiful spot. In the foreground the rape-like Turkish wartycabbage (Bunias orientalis), which was imported in the 18th/19th century and which is spreading very strongly in many places in Europe and which is controlled mechanically in many areas.
Am Abend liegen die Fischerboote am Strand.
In the evening the fishing boats lie on the beach.
