ZAHS advanced band performs at Grandberry Mall

Zama American High School’s advanced band played for the first time in a local foreign national concert venue May 22 at Grandberry Mall.

Kevin Hanson, Zama American School band teacher, said he has been here nine years and they have been unable to find a venue off-base.

“For this performance opportunity, we had to send a video of the band to be asked/accepted to play,” said Hanson.

The symphonic band of 41 students played a variety of music to include some Disney movie themed music, Batman’s theme song and the Mission Impossible movie theme song.

Hanson said the mall manager was watching the crowd and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

“We were invited to come back anytime,” said Hanson.

Very rarely do I see myself without my glasses on (very short sighted, can't get a good view 2 inches from a mirror!) so thought I'd give it a try! Now I see what people see when they cajoul me into taking my glasses off...need a haircut too...

I went searching for the Liguus tree snail for the firsttime today. I did not have much hope for finding any. I was expecting to bitten by a Cotton Mouth first.

Lady Luck was on my side and I found two specimens. Both on Gumbo Limbo trees and both on the south facing side. I did not wander too far off the hiking path since the side paths are more like armadillo trails than paths.

The Florida Tree Snail is classified as a species of special concern (SSC) and is being watched closely.

What can I tell us about our galaxy that you don't know yet? This was my first time I saw Milky Way on my 5D... and it was so amazing. I cannot realize how the shot was at that moment, but only a few minutes on Lightroom were necessary to see that result. I know, I am so noob yet, but also excited with this new world I have been discovered. // This pic was shot with: Samyang 14mm @ f/2.8 (the other specs are in description)

An hour ago I started my first attempt to develop a black and white film. It looks like I was successful :) - although I'm not able to say this by just looking at the negative film. The process of development is described here. It was easier than I thought... well, I have to see the final results to confirm this statement ;).

The pictures were taken a couple of months ago with my old Zorki 4K camera.

Trents first time going swimming, taken at our apartment complex

April 11, 2011

This weekend Joshua told me that cars can go in the water if they are on a boat and he kept talking about ferry boats all weekend... then I had a brilliant idea! Take them on a ferry boat! There is a little one that runs from Williamsburg to Surry (in Virginia). Only about a 20 minute ride so that's what we did. On the way over they were sacred because it was their very first time but this picture was taken on the ride back when they felt like old pros at it. They covered every square inch of this little ferry boat in 20 minutes and hopefully it will be a day for them to remember for a long time.

Why oh Why didn't I have these last week

Ok, it's my first time. It's too late to go back now... I followed the instructions (I think). Now it's just waiting... I hate waiting!

Recently, I noticed a few -white- hairs. *tear* I thought I had more time, but I always knew this day would come. Let's face it... it happens to everyone. I'm not freaking out, but I am a little nervous.

I guess I should be thankful that I made it to my age without any... my mom and sister got them in their teens.

Anyway, wish me luck! If I like it I'll post happy snaps later (oh heck, if I don't like it I'll post snaps later!)
