Not actually my first home but the first home I had a builder build, way back in 1980.
Interestingly I only slept one night in the house before being transferred in my job to Forster, NSW.
At the time the power was connected but there were no floor coverings, blinds or curtains and the back deck, visible in this image, had not yet been erected.
The upper storey extension was added by the new owners some time after.
In 1980 we had no money to spend on anything except paying our loan repayments and we'd purchased a block of land with a drainage easement pipe exposed right down the eastern side of the property.
I'll never forget how much physical effort went in to filling and raising the height of the land some 50 cm in order to cover the drainage easement pipe.
As I recall I shovelled 51 trailer loads of sand/soil fill from a nearby dump site into my trailer and then transporting it about 2km to the site where I then shovelled the soil out of the trailer.
After several months of shovelling I finally filled the block sufficiently to cover the exposed easement and finally building the house was able to be commenced.
Today the price of a block of land in Redhead has skyrocketed, this block being about 7 minutes walk from the beach.
Our bedroom. That headboard was here when we arrived. I am not responsible for purchasing this fabulous example of 20th-Century Plastic Baroque design.

Upon entering... this was an sans-permit "improvement" to the house. Way too much storage (all empty)... makes room feel even tinier. (it's only about 3.5 feet wide)
Sexy sexy sink and faucet.
We are in the process of buying our very first home! It's the first floor of a renovated yellow Victorian built in 1926. It's in Salem, MA and is truly double the size of our current space. Who wants to come to our first party?
Second storyboard from the photoshoot with John Paul & Aisling. A great couple with an absolutely gorgeous home!!

Here it is, 4309 Josephine. According to my mom, the pink stucco hasn't changed a bit. The only new feature are the bars on the windows.

PS. The kitchen is not usually this messy. We are renovating our pantry, so its contents are all over the freaking place.

This is my Filbert gateau with praline buttercream, shot with my Nikon N70, which makes the photo look at least 40 years old. Love it.
