Otto McGavin is peacefully idealistic by nature, an Anglo-Buddhist, who seeks employment with the Confederacion because he believes in its mission to protect human & nonhuman rights. The only problem is that the Confederacion needs him as one of its twelve Prime Operators for its secret service, the TBII. The TBII wants him as a spy, thief & assassin. It's not, of course, a problem for the Confederacion, which simply uses immersion therapy & hypnotic personality overlay for Otto's training, then sends him out in deep cover, encased in plastiflesh, on a variety of dangerous missions on a number of bizarre worlds. But for him, it's a different matter: what he has to witness & what he's forced to do take a terrible toll. Always he returns to his original self--his conscience stabbed by the memory of all those he'd killed in the service of interstellar harmony.

Wells’ story of The First Men in the Moon first appeared as a ten-part serial in The Strand Magazine (Nov. 1900 – August 1901) with illustrations by Claude Shepperson . The story appeared simultaneously in the USA as an eight-part serial in The Cosmopolitan Magazine (Nov. 1900 – June 1901) with illustrations by E. Hering. The Bowen-Merrill Co. of Indianapolis published the first edition of the novel in book form in 1901 with eleven of Hering’s illustrations. The British followed a month later with their own book edition from George Newnes in London with twelve of Shepperson’s illustrations.

Graham, the central character of the novel, awakens into a troubled world after a two-hundred year slumber, much like Rip Van Winkle. The compound interest on his bank accounts has made him the richest man in the world and a very powerful one indeed. A trust known as the White Council used Graham’s wealth to establish a vast political and economic world order, which is now much hated by the people. Word spreads that the fabled sleeper has awakened and the people demand to see him. The Council, which rules the world in his name, prefers that he remain out of the way and places him under house arrest. He is liberated by revolutionaries and he soon learns the ugly truth about this new world, which persuades him to take part in the revolution.

The novel has plenty of action which more than makes up for the author’s socialist inclinations. It has engine-driven “aeroplanes” with 600-foot wing spans and smaller, nimbler “aeropiles,” it has a revolution and a counter-revolution, and there are battles fought in the air for supremacy.

I made Jem something Jem-esque :D if a little more tame as far as Jem's wardrobe goes. I couldn't get over her bizarre hairdo though (yeah yeah 80s) so I covered it up it with a headband and a little hairgel. I'd imagine that anything more drastic would be one of the greater sins on earth.. and also kill her resale value. Ahem.

I've been a pretty big Bumblebee fan since 1985, not necessarily due to his kid appeal, but just because I like his design.

I'm not a huge fan of Bayformers (the Michael Bay movie version of The Transformers), and the only two movie toys I have are the Battle Blade and Battle Ops Bumblebees.

The Transformers: Prime show, on the other hand, I really like. It seems to strike a nice balance between Bayformers and G1. While this deluxe class Bumblebee isn't terribly show-accurate, I think he's still a very well designed toy.

Stay tuned for a Bumblebee family photo in the coming months ^___^

“Lara” is by Lord Byron while “Jacqueline” is from the pen of Samuel Rogers, and was included with Byron’s tale at Byron’s request. Lord Byron is regarded as one of the greatest British poets and remains widely read and influential. He travelled widely across Europe, especially in Italy where he lived for seven years. Among Byron's best-known works are the lengthy narrative poems “Don Juan” and “Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage” and the short lyric “She Walks in Beauty.”
