Just started checking out cinema 4D, and I love it. Here is the result of my first try at photo compositing letters into a background picture. Thanks for the verry clear tut by Todd Day www.todd-day.com/blog/?p=122
i have literally no idea what this looks like on your screens, but on mine it looks....decent...ish...it looks better in reality, trust me
i got sick of studying chemistry an hour ago so i did a quick scribble of Seychelles (hetalia), coloured her dress in with a water-based marker...then brushed over it with a really wet and soggy brush...then remembered something from textiles class....then threw salt on it...
and yeah...first attempt! first attempt!
(now my moleskine has a bit more colour ;u;)
and yeah...i must befriend my scanner one day...
BACK TO CHEMISTRY STUDYING! the exam IS tomorrow, after all...
Finally I got my act together and finished a mag-bag -
I used a christmas catalogue, folded the pages into strips and wove them together. The woven paper bag then got covered in clear adhesive plastic, the handles stitched onto it with pink ribbon - and I have lined the bag with lining fabric and put in a pocket.
I am not sure what to do about the bag/lining thing - the lining slides around inside the paper bag, and it looks like it does not really want to be in there - but I found, it needed something on the inside - otherwise dust and crumbs would sneak through the weaving and get stuck on the visible side in the sticky plastic....
Hm. I will have to refine this, should I make another one of these!
I recommend doing one - the weaving bit is great fun! :-) Tutorial to be found in this book -

I think I journeyed deeper into the realm of HDR on this one.
I had to fight with this nasty green glow from a street light on the far right of this shot. You can see the glow of green on the front wheel. I guess it has it's place because I like the contribution to the front wheel, however, color correction was needed for Carlos's face.
The original setup employed a single SB-600 (in TTL mode) attached to the D60 by an SC-28 cable and triggered through a white umbrella, camera right and a bit in front of subject. Distance: about 12 ft away and about 6.5 feet high.
Learned a few things on this shoot (unfortunately, the hard way). Now I know a few more things NOT to do that will make post-process work less tedious and time consuming.... ;) I'm sure other "improvements" could be made to this, but I'm done.
Almost halfway to my goal for my project!
Can you help me get to one thousand dollars by the end of the weekend?
This is my first attempt at doing night sky photography. I basically stood on this bridge for about an hour waiting for the sky to turn dark and the stars to come out. After that period, which I took a ton of establishing photos looking up river, I got to finally give it a go with taking photos of the night sky.
It honestly was such a refeshing moment for me as I've been doing a lot of work lately, doing quite a lot more shooting, and just dealing with other things. That's why I like going back to nature. It's the best reset button you can have for your mind.
After this edit (4 photos together), I did more reading on the subject and see what I could to do to adjust my setting better. I definitely can't wait to try this again and see what I can do. I encourage others to give it a try. You will need patience most of all, but it's worth it.
a first attempt at using texture layers
thanks to kitkatscrapper for the texture
and to the Textures for Layers group for the excellent guidance
any feedback welcome
My first attempt at drawing an eye using just a Mont Marte HB pencil. Attempting to practice drawing daily. #drawing #eye #practice #art #pencil #montmarte #firstattempt #newbie #practicemakesperfect #HB #freehand
Take a seat inside the camera! This one is dedicated to Janine, who inspired me to finally do this :)
So, this is a photograph of the inside of my son's room, which I turned into a camera obscura today. I've seen this done on TV before but it really doesn't compare to seeing it in the flesh. All I can say is "wow".
Backlit forgotten bottle of pepsi from "hmm that condensate looks cool" series. Maybe not the sharpest (handheld light torch behind the bottle..) but gives weird sensation to my eyes
My first attempt to manipulate, not just edit, a picture. It's far from perfect and done quickly, but has made me believe photography could quite possibly be the funnest thing.
Looking back on this after time, it's fun to see the ways I've improved. And the ways certain themes reflected in my photography have stayed the same.
I haven't had much time to learn my camera; this was taken two weeks ago. I have MUCH to learn!!! Thank you for your patience and understanding.
I'm now the proud owner of Photoshop Elements and this is my first attempt in using it.
Thank you to Charlotte for the quick online-guide in getting started ;-)
i love pretty paper and recently got some sweet little bitty squares of japanese paper from this etsy shop.
so after watching 4 different videos on youtube (i'm a little slow) and downloading a PDF (which i couldn't relate to at all), i managed to make these two paper cranes. however, i got stuck trying to make a third one. it's kinda like me and granny squares...my mind goes blank on it, like it's never done one.
i wonder if i have the mad cow?

Another one from mini series "hmm that condensate looks cool". After taking few pictures of "empty" droplets and getting all excited about being able to find focus on at least few droplets with my very disagreeable tripod (and apparently unstable uneven floor) I started to look for something that could fit through neck of the pepsi bottle to see what happens. Make up brush proved itself to be very fuzzy and boring. Silver pendant was more into swinging than forming stable relation(-ship) with(to) the bottle and camera. Rose outside payed the price for all the scratches they dared to inflict on my hands while getting weeded (how ungrateful of them).
C8 SCT with 0.63x reducer. Antlia triband filter, ASI533mc Pro @-10c and 100 gain.
22x300s lights. Calibrated.
A first attempt at recolouring in Pixinsight (star colours are a bit off, I think). I tried more intense nebula colours, but prefer this subtler view. I'd prefer the yellow to be a bit redder.
NINA, APP, Pixinsight.
I thought I would explore a technique that is becoming increasingly popular amongst photographers, especially here on Flickr, sometimes with spectacular results: High Dynamic Range (or HDR) photography. This is my first (and only) attempt at this; I have much to learn but already I can see the usefulness of the technique (even without getting into the extreme psychedelic end of things). I've posted below the three bracketed shots that I used to produce the HDR photo above. Experts recommend using a tripod, but these were shot hand-held.
I will now take a pause from Flickr as Huguette and I are headed for Russia in a couple of days. We will be cruising the Imperial Waterways of Russia from Moscow to Saint Petersburg. See you all in a couple of weeks!
Playing with photoshop learning new techniques.
The orchids in this picture were photographed at the Altanta Botanical Gardens. I read about the technique online and it brought back memories of childhood and the awe inspired when looking down the tube.
I was playing around with my camera and found out that I could shoot video with it. Mind you there is no audio and it shoots 60 second clips but gotta start some where. I know that the quality is not where it should be but this was the first time I used my camera for doing this. I should have read the book or I could have been shooting video a long time ago.
The Lily
by William Blake.
The modest Rose puts forth a thorn,
The humble sheep a threat'ning horn:
While the Lily white shall in love delight,
Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.
Ok...The model is what I had available this afternoon... don't consider!
Focus is bad, but @2.8 with interval timer shooting this was the best result I obtained.
What is really important:
On Thursday I joined a GREAT webinar with Joe McNally hosted by Manfrotto about use one light in photography.
Joe rocks. Is the Genius Of The Light, I totally envy his assistants holding reflecting panels! He ispired me!
Strobe info:
Built in flash on D700 master
Sb600 remote light with Lumiquest softbox on.
The REVOLUTION was the home-made diffuser: a white matt plastic bag stuck on window glass. I'm very proud of it :D
Not bad as first attempt!
(Thank you all to indulge my madness... :DDD)
After First Attempt’s recent tantrum, the clones & I decided it is in the best interest of everybody’s safety an event like that does not happen again.
Ever.
Fortunately, he’s a clone of me, so enticing him w/ a good beer shouldn’t be too hard. As long as the other clones do their part, nothing can go wrong. Right?
…to be continued…
First attempt at making a planet on photoshop, using my silhouette photo I did a while ago whilst in London. This was just a cropped photo instead of an actual panoramic photo but I think the turn out was still pretty good.
