St John Ambulance is a volunteer-led, charitable non-governmental organisation dedicated to the teaching and practice of first aid in England.
It wasn't that long ago that the St John Ambulance had a first generation FIAT Panda 4x4 complete with blue light bar... things have grown since then.
Here it is parked outside the Loughborough branch to assist with the medical cover of Loughborough's annual fair.
St John Ambulance also help East Midlands Ambulance Service, along with private contractors to achieve ambulance time targets.

A used Japanese car in use as an Ambulance here in the UK.
Despite the high cost of transport, the sale of used Japanese cars and other vehicles to other countries is profitable due to the relatively low cost and good condition of the vehicles being exported.
Japan's strict motor-vehicle inspections and high depreciation which make vehicles worth very little in Japan after six years. Strict environmental-protection regulations make vehicle disposal very expensive in Japan. Japan also has very stringent vehicle emission test standards.
Importing rules for the UK are stringent; all vehicles must undergo Individual Vehicle Approval to assure compliance with applicable ECE Regulations or British national equivalents. The speedometer must be converted from kilometres per hour to miles per hour, a rear fog light and unleaded-fuel restrictor installed.
Of course Japan also drive on the left which helps...
The last owner of this car was probably Mr Akio Gorio from Yamiguchi prefecture.
It was manufactured in 1995 and registered here in the UK in March 2003.

Sparkman / Hillcrest Morticians of Dallas, Texas operated a fleet of white Chevrolet suburban ambulances -- some were raised roof high tops and others were low bodies. Photograph from the James F. Moshinskie Historic Photograph Collection
All were packed with multiple red lights and both Federal Q2 and dual Federal electronic sirens. Clear beaconrays with red and white lights were on the front corners of the roofs, and in the center of each ambulance roof. The raised roof included red "Twin Sonics" light bars, and the low tops had flashing red lollipops on either side of the Federal Q2.
This photo was taken in 1972 by Jim Moshinskie, then a student at the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, in the rear of the downtown location of Sparkman / Hillcrest Morticians on Ross Avenue (now closed).
Sparkmans handled the city contract for emergency ambulances in North Dallas, and Dudley M. Hughes answered the calls in South Dallas.
This long-serving funeral home dates back to 1893 when it was started by George W. Laudermilk and progressed as Laudermilk-Sparkman (1920), Sparkman-Holtz-Brand (1933), Sparkman-Brand (1947), Sparkman's (1960s), and finally Sparkman/Hillcrest (1967).

Can I get some appreciation for my son, who - rather than going out tonight for his 23rd birthday - is volunteering with @stjohn_ambulance . He may not be out partying, but that doesn't mean I'll let the day go by without cake of some description, so I made him these St John Ambulance theme cupcakes to take with him.
Happy birthdy to my beautiful boy!!
