Somehow I recently acquired a Leica M2, something I never expected to happen. It came with a Summaron 35mm f/3.5 lens. This is a shot from the first roll of film I put through it. I plan on posting a couple more from that roll over the next couple of days.

The breeze at the lake sent me my first Viceroy butterfly. Thought it was a small Monarch. Learned that the Viceroy has used mimicry to help its survival.

After a month I returned back to Kawasan again to accompany the whole family of our German consultant who arrived last week and was visiting the Philippines for the first time.

It doesn't matter how many times I've been there. Going there still excites me.

Panning. We've had motion blur and stopping motion, but a true panning assignment is a different animal. Steffen J. suggested it, and he's absolutely right! This is where you move the camera with the subject as it moves in front of you. I've always said getting one of these right is like a gift from heaven, but it may be easier than that. I will have helpful instructions and tips right after this post.

The assignment for CWD this week was panning. Our schools are closed today for some reason (I understand why they are closed tomorrow, but today?). With me not working and Savanah's friends' parents working, I ended up with three kids in the house today! I figured while I had em around I might as well put them to work as models. The donned fairy wings and I had them run around in the yard so I could get my panning shot.

This started with a sushi bar that my sister bought me years ago, a cheap little thing that I discarded, until I recently discovered Re-Ment, and suddenly my life became full of miniature Japanese food. Mari is my only Japanese Barbie, one of Barbie's friends from the art school series. I put her in a Basics dress because when I first saw the Basics, I thought they looked like restaurant hostesses.
