Here we have First Glasgow 37149 passing the tower block used for filming BBC One's comedy show Still Game.

It is as I had feared. When I shot the first test roll and heard and felt the grinding of the mechanisms inside the camera body, which gave me the distinct impression of wanting to be left alone to die in peace, I thought "Oy vey. This is not a good thing."

And when I saw the scans of the processed film and saw that the film transport apparently doesn't work reliably after the 24th shot or so, I shook my head in dismay and thought: "This is definitely not a good thing."

But then I took a good look at those shots that had come out well, I sat down heavily, in amazement and I thought: "Cor. This is a good thing."

Sharpness, contrast, colour rendering, creamy bokeh, it's all there.

So, now what? I think I can work around that film transport problem by just using 24 exposure rolls, if I can confirm that the problem will turn up only if the wound up roll is too thick.

By the way, a Contarex Special with a Planar 1:2 50mm lens was what astronaut Ed White used during his EVA on the Gemini IV flight in June 1965.

This bus was new to Tyrers before heading to Transdev Lancashire United and then First Eastern Counties at Ipswich before transferring to Essex.

Olden but no longer golden.....

Poor 37205 (KSU391) must be a regular visitor to the paint booth at First Glasgow’s Caledonia Depot as it’s possibly the only vehicle to have been painted in two branded liveries and then been painted back out of them into standard livery. The bus - which was delivered as SF57MKA - originally was refurbished, re-registered and rebranded for the U1/U2 services for the University of the West of Scotland in Lanarkshire and received a red front.

Sadly that service didn’t prove as popular as expected, and so it was then repainted again with a gold front for the X1 Hamilton - Glasgow Express.

However as a result of COVID-19, First have now elected to withdraw the X1, along with some other routes such as the X2 and 32 services. It’s now been repainted in standard livery, but unusually - for a First Glasgow bus at least - it retains the large Glasgow fleet name. And it looks a whole lot better for it as a result.

Took some test shots to confirm/rule out issues from my first go round with the Graphic. This is also the first time I've self developed film. Well, OK there was high school but I zombied my way through that. LOTS OF ISSUES. Major dust problems, big scratches on the negative, creased the negative due to using the 'taco method etc etc. Putting it out there for everyone to see! ha!

And of course, I had to move my stuff back into my condo after renovating my floors. :P

Here we have First Glasgow's 37201, one of the latest to hit the road in the new branded 61 livery. It is interesting to note that 37201 is the first one to still retain its original number plate, with its contemporaries all having received former routemaster WLT number plates.

This image from Rosetta’s OSIRIS narrow-angle camera is marked to show the location of the first touchdown point of the Philae lander. It is thought that Philae bounced twice before settling on the surface of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The OSIRIS image was taken from a distance of 50 km on 2 September 2014, prior to landing.

First snow of the season started the night before, so the horses were very frisky when they got out this morning. Unfortunatly I was shooting in Super 8 for my final film project when they were first set loose, so they had calmed down a bit by the time I was able to start playing with stills.
