In Riga, at 18 Lāčplēša Street, there is a tenement house built in 1906 by architect Jānis Alksnis. One of the first buildings in Riga with Art Nouveau features in the facade architecture. The facade is decorated with exquisite ornamental bricks. On the top of facade there are expressive figural compositions with a female and male group common in the decorative decoration of Art Nouveau buildings.
First Light - The first sunlight over Yosemite national Park looking donw Yosemite Vallye from Tunnel View - Copyright 2015 Martyn Phillips, M4Photo.
Tunnel View over Yosemite National Park is a favorite with tourists and photographers and for that reason we arrived very early to make the most of this amazing location. The night was clear and very cold but we were presented with a lovely sun flare as the sun crept up over the mountains surrounding the valley.

Out on a sunny walk yesterday. The temperatures were below freezing, but no snow. The wind made it feel colder than it actually was.
Babies first swim lesson, and the chick between the legs of the Dad was the one most reluctant.
Thank you for visiting and have a great week.
Been in the Kalahari for a week now and this is the first time I have managed to get the internet to work, it's really pretty bad. Been really busy training but managed to take my camera out a few times. Hopefully I can upload some more and maybe even get a blog post sometime soon.

The first geese of the season arrived in Fairbanks this year on March 29. It's the earliest arrival time on record. Some in the group might think it was a poor decision.
first snow of the year !! i have shot this tree alot but have never gotten anything as good as this so gonna post it and keep working on this tree .
Back in Fontainebleau after years away and delighted to see our favourite patisseries are still doing fine and still absolutely delicious. I'm going to gain 50kg on this trip...
First flight.
I came across tree swallows fluttering around a nest box making a lot of noise. Suddenly a young swallow launched itself from the box and flew unsteadily around the box. Four times it tried unsuccessfully to land on the box, but on its fifth attempt it made a very clumsy landing. Mom, dad and even its siblings were all very excited.
The young swallow had apparently had enough excitement so after resting for some time it somehow managed to get itself back into the nesting box.

➣ Great Blue Heron paused on the Rivière des Prairies in Montreal North. The adult Great Blue Heron is more than one meter long and weighs approximately 2.5 kg. Always fascinating to see a Great Heron catch a fish with such ease in such a turbulent river.
Not the best of shots, but my first of one of these in Daventry for a good many months. First Leicester 33728 (SN12 ALO) is seen along Prospect Way, Daventry, with an inbound BHX3 service to Amazon. 27th March 2023
First Glasgow are in the process of branding some of their AD Enviro 200MMC's that are used on service 240 (Wishaw-Glasgow). 67048 (SN65 OHA) is seen here in Motherwell with the new branding clearly visible.
In my own mind I have no doubt that we would have summited if we continued. The weather at that point was as good as we could have expected albeit a little breezy and cool. With the forecast for bad weather and strong winds 'later in the day' whatever that really means, would we make it out?
The descent was more the issue for me than the ascent. None of us had been here before and looking down on the ridge that we were to descend was, to be quite honest, pretty daunting. Is this the sort of descent that we would risk doing in bad weather? No thanks.
The ropes attached and packs lifted we took our first steps away from the summit. I felt a certain emptiness. So here we were, the three of us, heading down a steep ridge toward a sea of cloud waiting below.
The ridge though was a pretty exciting view. I couldn't believe that was our path out. Ion was off without a hint of hesitation. This was his element. The Romanian cowboy seemed well at home on this rock and snow ridge and with confidence started the descent. I was nervous but still excited at the route. The drop on either side of this ridge was...well, check out the photo!
