A firebug crossed my path on my way home from photographing birds. The lens, a Tamron 150-600mm, would not normally be my first choice for this photo model, but it was the only one I had with me. It still gave me a picture of this colorful insect.

Thought I'd build my own photowebsite just in case Flickr goes belly up, and to see if the force is still with me. Used Textpad and the awesome Firebug plug-in for Mozilla. Don't hold your breath, though, it'll be ages before this goes live.
The firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus, is a common insect of the family Pyrrhocoridae. Easily recognizable due to its striking red and black coloration, it is distributed throughout the Palaearctic from the Atlantic coast of Europe to northwest China.
