My favorite bug. The Fire Bug. (Pyrrhocoris apterus). Climbing down the cellar wall. It's about 15 mm long. I have a few hundred of these bugs at Bergdalen.

This click beetle in the genus Deilelater is sometimes also called a fire beetle or Cucujo. When excited this beetle emits a bioluminescent bright green glow from the round disks on either side of the pronotum. (Pyrophorus noctilucus)

The red one is the last instar of the firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus. - A piros a verőköltő bodobács (Pyrrhocoris apterus) utolsó stádiumú lárvája. Mindkét faj imádja szívogatni a kerti mályvacserje (Hibiscus syriacus) termését.

Dentro de la misma especie existen ejemplares con distintos colores. El color no identifica el sexo

Son abundantes al Jardinet de l'Om...Generalmente se les encuentra por debajo de los troncos y las piedras, pero este otoño les ha dado por vivir sobre la Gardenia...A ver si los encontrais!
