The firebug is resistant to frost, maybe that is the reason why it is the first insect I noticed in the spring? Or is it the red color?

Firebugs, Pyrrhocoris apterus, swarming on a stump in the garden of Palazzo Arese Borromeo in mid-May.
Hundreds of firebugs on a tree. The German Wikipedia article describes them as "sociable".
