Murgantia histrionica goes by a few common names ; derived mostly from the variegated color pattern and irregular markings on its back, such as "Calico Back", "Calico Bug", "Fire Bug", and more commonly, the "Harlequin Bug". Harlequin bugs are native to Mexico and Central America, and are an invasive species in North America, having been first detected in Texas in 1864. They will suck the sap of cruciferous plants, causing the plants to wilt and die :(

This is a European Firebug (Pyrrocohoris apterus), native to most of Europe and Asia. In 2015, a small population of firebugs appeared here in northern Utah, it is the only known population of European Firebugs in the entire western hemisphere. As they begin to spread, biologists here have been able to track their dispersal patterns as their range has expanded into Salt Lake City, Ogden, Sandy, and even Tooele. This population is an excellent example of a founding population, where a small number of individuals are isolated from their parent population, which puts them on a potentially different genetic trajectory than the parent population, and could cause genetic drift because there were probably only a few individuals who were transported from Europe to the USA, and there's no way to know whether the genetic traits they had were a diverse representation of the parent population in Europe or not. But regardless, the entire population of Firebugs here in Utah are their descendants and can only inherit those traits. Over time, this may cause these two separated populations to evolve different traits, or even become separate species eventually.

A Firebug and a Ladybird share the same leaf

There's a dead tree trunk next to the cellar door here at Bergdalen. It is the home of a few hundred Firebugs. And they are a good indication of the arrival of Spring. This year they sent out this little guy to see if it was time to come out. He reported back that it was.

this is what happens when you tell Amazon you're not interested in the Beatles.

Playing around with Firebug. Ultimately not a great solution as you need to test on the mobile device, which typically does not run Firefox/Firebug/FireUnit! Also one cannot test Internet Explorer on the desktop of course.

I think Gears test cases can be adapted.

And I'll probably suggest a stripped down version of Gears style tests for unit testing in Bondi.

A big grass fire, I was just leaving to visit my family in southampton so only caught the beginning of it but it spread pretty far.

Not sure if it was started by youths, an old glass bottle or just a landowner trying to get rid of some of the scrub.

you can see the firemen trying to beat it out in the pictures, if they had bothered to use water it might not have spread and become so massive.

No damage or injury occured, there was just an immense black patch on the mountain/hill side afterwards.

I just noticed that this firepit is shaped exactly like the rotor from a Wankel rotary engine. I know, I'm weird.
