This years first sighting of the firebugs, a true sign that spring is on the way. The red bugs live in a tree trunk next to the cellar door at Bergdalen, and I spotted this one as I was getting the bike out.

English :
The firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus, is a common insect of the family Pyrrhocoridae. Firebugs generally mate in April and May. Their diet consists primarily of seeds from lime trees and mallows.
They can be seen in tandem formation when mating which can take from 12 hours up to 7 days. The long period of copulating is probably used by the males as a form of ejaculate-guarding under high competition with other males.[1]
We had a blast at my parents' house this Easter weekend. Ian got to play with fire and I went swimming in the pond the next day. I think the Christmas tree is in that brushfire somewhere.
Random stranger knows exactly what to do when a camera is pointed at him. Thank you, whoever you are.
Taken at White Noise Festival, when I was somewhere where I wasn't supposed to.
Anti-forestfire campaign in Idaho. Used to be lot's of these posted on the highways of Idaho. They are rare these days but you still see one from time to time. Found this one at an historical pull-out on Whitebird Mt. in central Idaho. I left the pick-up license plate in the crop so you can see the picture has not been inverted.
cleaning up my desk, I had this wad of firebug meeting notes that ended up in the project wiki afterwards.

Fire ants eat it all. Seeds, dead insect, bread, nektar.
Firefox with Firebug allows for direct in-browser manipulation of HTML and CSS. This means you can go in and tweak things at the code level. It's WYSIWYG with direct full control. (Safari now has it's Web Inspector built-in but it isn't as flexible, ditto for MS IE's Developer Toolbar Add-on.)
It's sketching/sculpting: skulpting!
Oh and yeah.. imminent joi.ito.com redesign launch. ;)
"Rocky" is such an easy pun to make that it's strange how many earth-elemental monsters get it. LIke this dude. With stone tentacles. And a diamond body. And fangs. Hiya, Gormiti!
(It's dark because he has sensitive eyes)
