The firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus, is a common insect of the family Pyrrhocoridae. Easily recognizable due to its striking red and black coloration.
The diet of firebugs consists primarily of seeds from lime trees and mallows. They can often be found in groups near the base of lime tree trunks, on the sunny side.

Fire Love on a Dandelion – Firebugs Under the Macro Lens
The world of macro photography always offers unexpected dramas and beautiful moments. In the bushes along the path in our Šilo, I managed to capture this intense moment of nature: a pair of firebugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus) in the process of mating. Their vibrant red-and-black bodies create an incredible contrast against the delicate, feathery texture of a dandelion seed head. Using my Canon macro setup, I isolated this intimate encounter, turning ordinary bugs into true stars in this miniaturized world. Nature is fascinating; we just need to slow down and look.

Svijet makro fotografije uvijek nudi neočekivane drame i prekrasne trenutke. U grmlju uz stazu u našem Šilu, uspio sam uhvatiti ovaj intenzivni trenutak prirode: par plamenih stjenica (Pyrrhocoris apterus) u procesu parenja. Njihova jarka crveno-crna tijela stvaraju nevjerojatan kontrast nasuprot nježnoj, paperjastoj teksturi sjemenske glave maslačka. Korištenjem Canon setupa s makro objektivom, izolirao sam ovaj intimni susret, pretvarajući obične bubice u prave zvijezde u ovom miniaturiziranom svijetu. Priroda je fascinantna, samo treba usporiti i pogledati.
