Now called FIREBUG. Housed in the old Gas Offices, this is one of a number of Leicester pubs set up during the late '80s/early '90s in large buildings vacated by other businesses e.g. BANK, O'NEILLS.

Hiding under a leaf :-)) Held the leaf with one hand - camera in the other - and then moved myself until he was in focus - I love these bugs :-) This is as shot - increased the saturation a little to get the colour I 'saw'

A bit warmer now so the firebugs are out stretching their legs again.

The firebug is a common insect of the family Pyrrhocoridae. Easily recognizable due to its striking red and black coloration, it is distributed throughout the Palaearctic from the Atlantic coast of Europe to northwest China. It has also been reported from the USA, Central America and India. It has been reported as recently expanding its distribution northwards into mainland UK. They are frequently observed to form aggregations, especially as immature forms, with from tens to perhaps a hundred individuals.

just for everyone's info... I've altered the colour of this plant. The actually colour is all bright pink/fuscia (no green). We have these in our garden and they make such a lovely feature plant.

Thanks for looking...

Mating season for the firebugs seems to have started, found great numbers of them today. Most two-and-two linked together, behind to behind.... :~)

Firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus) Eldlus

There's been a lot of fires set in recent months – all by the same person, no doubt. One of our local firebugs has developed a taste for abandonment, burning down the memories I'd rather nature be left to rot and rust. This was one of my favorites, found with my wife on the week before our wedding, and revisited countless times since. It was featured in my book, Dereliction Is Better than Fiction, where I shared my photos/prose and called it Cryer's Paradise. That name comes from an old Ron Hynes song, but now all her weeping is over. She's dead and gone, like Mr. Hynes himself, just ash and cinder, blown by with the dust of last year's crops. It's a shame to see time cut to the chase, because with sturdy walls and a metal roof, there was a lot of crumbling coming. But despite the bastard arsonist, there's still love lingering, grisly beauty in the gristle of history smoldering. Here's to what's hanging on.

I think this is probably a Firebug: Pyrrhocoris apterus. I saw several similar Hemipteran bugs with slightly different patterns but I think they were different instars of the same species. South of France - Provence (Avignon) - August (on my hols!!) They almost always scuttled under the leaves when anyone approached - hence this one is in the shade, hanging upsidedown.

I love this little, colorful insect.

Gyerekkorom óta kedvelem a Bodobácsot, pedig sokan nem szeretik..Vajon miért? Annyira jól néz ki!

They say a change is as good as a rest (I dispute this, but...) but with that theory in mind, here's 3 pics I took at a friend's gig last week.

The setting was uber dark, so I had to be a little creative with the settings. The results have been well received though :)

Using the firebug lite and my new bookmarklet I can debug any page in IE:
